Of these— 5,650 were in sound condition with all plumbing. 9,866 were occupied. 6,763 were occupied by own ers. $6,300 was the median value of owner-occupied places. 3,103 were occupied by renters. $47 was the median gross rent of rented places. 7,002 had hot and cold running wafer. 6,992 had flush toilet 6,842 bathtub or shower. 2,577 had basement. 91 were trailer homes. 993 households had air condi tioning. 7,226 had TV 8,267 radio and 4,- 467 telephone. 6,878 had washing machine and 200 clothes dryer. 2,498 had 1 or more home food freezers. 6,102 had 1 automobile. 1,956 had 2 automobiles. 185 had 3 or more automobiles. Sut- phin received an injury to an eye which resulted in the loss of the eye. He is resting comfortably at Moore Memorial Hospital follow ing surgery Thursday night. Dur ing the recent snow and ice, Archie Seawell fell on a plow at his farm which has resulted in the loss of one of his eyes. Our sympathy is expressed to these two friends and neighbors and to the ir families. Presbylerian Church Notes Allan McDonald was elected a trustee of the Presbyterian Church at a congregational meet ing on Sunday. The congregation also voted to use the rotary plan for the office of church deacons. The Youth Fellowship led the morning worship service at the Presbyterian Church which fea tured Camp Monroe and its im portance to the Presbytery. Tak ing part in the service were Rick Lewis, Jackie Donaldson, Donald Farmer, Jane Jackson, Miriam Gibson, and Janice Gordon with all members of the Fellowship having a choral reading. The ad visors for the Fellowship are Misses Bert McCrummen and Tresie Auman. Attended Meeting Hawley Poole attended a meet ing of the State Board of Agricul ture in Raleigh on Monday. He was accompanied by Mrs. Poole. Visitor Here Dr. Robert A. Farmer, Captain in the United States Army, sta tioned in Japan, visited his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Farmer, for two days last week. Dr. Farm er was in the States due to the illness of his wife’s father in Rich mond, Va. It was Bobby’s first vis it home since leaving almost .four years ago. Joins Furniture Co. After funeral services there, burial was I be in her home community, Norwich, N. Y. Mrs. Marsters, who studied in New York City, Paris, France, and Florence, Italy, was the guest here on several occasions of Mr. and Mrs. Vittorio Crescimanno di Capodarso whose winter home is at 580 E. Indiana Ave. Mrs. Cres cimanno de Capodarso is the for mer Mary Adaline Cook of Nor wich and was a lifelong friend of Mrs. Marsters whose last visit here was about five years ago.. It was recalled that Mrs. Marsters was particularly charmed by the springtime natural beauty of the Sandhills and made sketches here. She was the widow of Guy Marsters of Norwich. New Job Appointment Leonard VonCanon, who is a lumber inspector at the Sandhill Furniture Corporation, serves as vice-president of the Moore Coun ty Young Democratic Club, a vol unteer fireman, and even though he has completed his tour of duty with the armed forces, maintains active duty with the National Guard. Recently this enterprising young man was appointed as sales representative for the Fuller Brush Company of Montgomery and Moore counties. Graveside Services Attending the' graveside service for their cousin, Dan Graham, of Ruffin, S. C., at Bethesda Ceme tery . on Sunday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. Tarrell Graham and family, Reece Graham with Bren da, and Misses Treva and Tressie Auman. Graveside services were held on Monday afternoon at the West End Cemetery for Mrs. Wade Ty ner with the Rev. Clifton Tuttle officiating. Mrs. Tyner died on Saturday night at Moore Mem-i orial Hospital. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stuart of Teachey called on Mrs. Claude Auman on Sunday afternoon. Sunday dinner guests of the. Leslie Gordons were the W. W. and Ivy Edgerton families of Mi cro. T. J. Baldwin is home after hav ing a tonsillectomy last week at Duke Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Pusser and their two teen-age daughters lost their home and all its furnishings by fire Sunday morning when an oil heater in their home exploded. The Pusser home was located near the Rummage Brothers’ peach orchard, and Cyrus is employed with the Harris McRae Company of Ellerbe where the girls are in high school. Mrs. Pusser is the former Miss Willie McCracken, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. McCracken of West End. Watts Auman of Fort Bragg spent the week-end with his parents, the Clyde Aumans. Bobby Auman rode to Winston- Salem with Jimmy FishOr from Fayetteville on Sunday to pick up Jimmy’s Davidson College roommate, Bill Denham, who is going with Jimmy to France to study this spring. Bobby and Jimmy had to stop in High Point on the way due to the heavy snow. There they visited at High Point College with Eugene Blake. Needing tire chains, they purchas ed some from Albert Blue, form erly of Jackson Springs and the husband of the former Miss Lois Eifort, and also visited with Bob Lewis at Albert’s station. Bob is the son of Mrs. Blake Lewis and married the former Miss Nancy Eifort, daughter of Mrs. D. D. Eifort.
