Two Face Trial on Forgery Charges
After Probable Cause Is Found Here
Two defendants were bound
over to Superior Court on forgery
charges, in last week’s session of
Southern Pines Recorder’s Court,
with Judge W. Harry Fullenwider
presiding.

as of non-suit; Garland Franklin
Stanback, assault, six months on
the roads, appeal to Superior
Court entered, bond set at $500.

sance, $15 and costs each; Ed
Seward, Niagara, public drunk,
one month on roads, suspended 12
months on payment of $15 fine
and costs, not to be convicted of
similar offense for 12 months, not
to be found on premises of any
place selling alcoholic beverages,
except grocery stores; Roy Berry
and Floyd Brown, possession of
non-taxpaid whiskey (separate
cases), one month on road each;
James Terry, trespassing, one
month suspended on payment of
the costs, not to go on the prem
ises of the prosecuting.witness.
Charles Edward Miller, non
support, six months on the roads,
suspended for an indefinite term
on payment to Mrs. Graham of
$10 per week until medical hills
are paid and then to pay $10 per
week for the child, until further
order of the court, to give per
formance bond in amount of $500;
charged with public drunkenness
and paying $10 fine and costs were
John L. Terry, Southern Pines,
and James R. Freeman and Grady
Scott, both of Carthage; paying
the costs on the same charge was
O’Neil Scott of ^Carthage.
Probable cause was found in
each of the two hearings. Defend
ants were Herman Thomas and
Austin Johnson, in separate cases.
Johnson was in court also on
two other charges. For assault on
a female, he was sentenced to two
years on the roads, entering ap
peal to Superior Court. Bond was
set at $1,000. Johnson also enter- |
ed an appeal to Superior Court
after he was sentenced to one
month on the roads for possession
of non-taxpaid whiskey. Bond in
this case was set at $300.
Probable cause was also found
by Judge Fullenwider in another
felony case in which Alton Dowd
is charged wilth breaking and en
tering and larceny. The defendant
was ordered held for the grand
jury. Bond was set at $1,000.
A defendant in multiple trouble
with the law was Dwight Terry,
with four separate cases on the
docket. Judgment was continued
in two cases of assault on a fe
male and one of public drunken
ness. In another public drunken
ness case, the judge sentenced
Terry to three months on the
roads, suspending the sentence on
condition that the defendant
bring his monthly check to_ the
police station and endorse it to
his wife and give it to her.
Other cases heard in last Wed
nesday’s session were;
Ray Wynh, Warrenton, Pa.,
driving too fast for road condi
tions, pay the costs and walk to
the ranger station (option of walk
ing offered defendant in lieu of
paying a fine); Donnie Chavis,
Route 3, Carthage, speeding 70 in
55 zone, reckless driving, pay
costs and walk home, not to be in
an automobile, except to and
from work or on a specific errand
for parents, for 30 days; Ellen
Sineath MacPherson, speeding 45
in 35 zone, pay costs and walk
home (Carthage Road); Alfred
Wesley Williamson, Route 3, Car
thage, speeding 50 in 35 zone, $15
and costs; William M. Ray.
Spring Lake, speeding 80 in 60
zone, found guilty of exceeding
stated speed limit, $10 and costs.
Jean Arnette Thomas, indecent
exsposure, pay costs and not be in
the company of J. C. Sloan for six
months nor he found in an auto
mobile for six months; James
Harold Terry, public drunk, one
month on the roads, suspended 12
months on payment of the costs,
not to be convicted of a similar
offense in 12 months; Richard
Jerome Almond, Route 1, Aber
deen, drunken driving, defendant
moved for trial by jury, case, for-
