Heflin, 74, of Route 1, Aberdeen who died in Moore Memorial Hospital were to be conducted from the Ives Memorial Bhptist i Church in Pinebluff today (Thursday) at 4 p. m. The Rev. E. Paul West, Jr., was to officiate. Burial was to follow at Old B.3thesda Cemetery near Aberdeen. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nellie Averett Heflin of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Jerome Hobbs of Augusta, Ga., and Mrs. Vander Robson of Pinehurst; four sons, Lewis Heflin of Aber deen, Leonard of Bladenboro, Craig of Lumberton and Tom of Los Angeles, Calif.; one brother, J. H. Heflin of Durham; six sis ters, Miss Addie Heflin and Mrs. Ha.-el H. Dodson of Durham, Mrs. E. L. Culbreth of Raleigh, Miss Frances Gibbs Heflin of Wash ington, D. C., Mrs. R. G\. Dunn of Philadalphia, Pa., and Mrs. R. Rigsby of Baltiihore, Md.; 16 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. IW IN HOSPITAL A. A. Hewlett of 475 N. CARTHAGE NEWS Miss Linda Hern, who was the weekend guest of Miss Kay Patterson, was guest soloist at the Presbyterian Church on Sunday at the morning worship service. Both girls are students at Peace College. Miss Patterson is the older daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Patterson. Bobbie Kelly of UNC, Chapel Hill, spent this weekend with his parents. Don McCallum of Campbell College spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. McCallum. Miss Ruth Douglas Currie, who teaches in Gastonia, and Thomas Currie, a student at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S. C., spent this weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Currie. Miss Candace McDonald who teaches physical education at the city schools in Charlotte spent this weekend at home. Miss Mary Louise McDonald of Chambersburg, Pa., is visiting her parents and was soloist at the Carthage Presbyferian Church on Sunday evening, where the ON CHANNEL 5 TV Program on No. 1 Highway Set For Sunday A television program showing scenes along No. 1 highway which runs 2,383 miles from Ed- mundston, Maine, to Key West, Fla., passing through Moore County, will be broadcast from WRAL-TV, Channel 5, Raleigh, Sunday, April 1, from 3:30 to 4:30 p. m., it is announced by Lester Rose of Raleigh, secretary-treas urer of the No. 1 Highway Asso ciation which promotes travel on the highway. The program is being seen na tionally tonight on a National Broadcasting Comipany broadcast from 7:30 to 8:30 p. m., but is not being carried at that hour on any (station which can he received in this area, Mr. Rose said. Film sequences have been made along the highway by NBC for several months. A narration explaining interesting points will be given by Van Heflin. Mr. Rose said that, as far as he knows, this is tko first time a television pro gram of any single highway'has been produced. The announcement did not specify whether there are any scenes from Southern Pines or Moore Cbunty in the production. The U. S. No. 1 Highway As sociation, formed in 1947 and supported by businesses serving the traveling public, sponsors an advertising program that includes printing and distribution of strip maps and guide books, newspaper advertising and outdoor signs. Home Demonstralion Crane Creek Club Crane Creek Home Demonstra tion women pride themselves on the sales they have from time to time at the end of our regular meetings for the purpose of keep ing our treasury reimbursed and sometimes for special needs as they arise. At the March meeting original ity was shown. To name a few of the items, we had baked goods, frozen foods, dairy products, pot ted plants, a clothes pin apron and one of the ladies had fash ioned a charming Easter arrange ment composed of an Easter egg house, rabbits, chicks and even a picket fence. Sugg and other friends in Carthage. Mrs. S. H. Miller*of Statesville spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Miller. Mrs. Ted Frye, Mrs. Ed Comer and Mrs. Rudolph Womack at tended the tea at Holly Inn, Pine hurst, where the planning com mittee made plans for the bene fit dance sponsored by the Moore County Hospital Auxiliary. Miss Jane Lewis represented the Women of the M. E. Church at the annual conference of The Woman’s Society of Christian Service at Wilson. Dr. E. C. Scott, who has been serving as interim pastor of Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Southern Pines, and Mrs. Scott were dinner guests, at the Carthage Hotel Sunday, of Mrs. J. K. Roberts, Mrs. W. C. Brown and Mrs. C. T. Grier. Mrs. Scott is a cousin of Mrs Brown and Mrs. Grier, and was a Salem Col lege friend of Mrs. Roberts.
