(Hemer photo) ABERDEEN NEWS By ANN J McNEILL Troutman-Woodniiff Rites The marriage of Miss Paula David Troutman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul G. Troutman, of Addor, and David Lee Woodruff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Len D. Wood ruff of Hays, took .place at the Methodist parsonage in Efland on Saturday, March 17, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon in the presence of close friends of the bridal couple. Mr. Woodruff attended the Uni versity of North Carolina and is presently employed at N. C. Mem orial Hospital, Chapel Hill. Mrs Woodruff is a student at Louis- burg College, Louisburg. The couple will reside in Winston- Salem after June 1, where Mr. Woodruff will be affiliated with the Western Electric Company. Mischke-Motsger Wedding Mrs. Anne Mischke and Charles S. Metsger were united in mar. riage in a private ceremony in Chesterfield, S. C., Friday March 30. The couple are making their home in Birmingham, Ala. Cardinal Book Club Mrs. Lynwood Moon was host ess to the Cardinal Book Club Thursday evening with 14 mem bers and several visitors who took part on the program present Mrs. Tommy Gschwind, presi dent, presided over the business session. Mrs. Vann Clark, pro gram chairman of the evening, presented some of her eighth graders who had taken part in the recent class recitation con test and were winners in the va- irious categories. The following gave enjoyable (recitations: Mickie Pleasants, Margaret Todd, Billy Boyte, Dor othy Rogers, Dickie Pleasants, and Sandra Madison. At the conclusion of the pro gram, Mrs.Moon invited the mem bers and guests into the dining room where Mrs. Gschwind pmu*- ed punch which was enjoyed with delicious goodies. Women of Bethesda 'The Women of Bethesda Pres byterian Church met on Sunday evening with the president, Mrs. N. A. McGill, presiding. Mrs. E. T. McKeithen led the devotion. Plans were made for the Vaca tion Church School Institute, to be held at Bethesda April 28. The annual birthday offering of the Women of the Church was re ceived. This year’s offering will be used in the Vocational Guid ance Centers on Presbyterian col lege campuses throughout the Southern Presbyterian Church. The annual birthday party of the Women of the Church will be held in the form of a reception on next Sunday evening following the first special pre-Easter serv ice. This will honor the visiting minister, the Rev. Charles Worth, of Whiteville, and also the new members who have joined Beth esda Church during the past year. Sixth Birthday Miss Karen Samuels, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Samiuels, celebrated her sixth birthday on Saturday with a party at her home for nine little friends. They ten joyed outdoor games, after which they watched Karen open her gifts. Interesting refresh ments, served by Mrs. Samuels, consisted of Easter eggs made of Jello nesited on green coconut, and cup cakes which had been baked in ice cream cones and decorated with a rabbit on top. Karen’s aunt, Mrs. Peggy Ritter of High Point, and a cousin, Sheila Inman, were present for (the occasion. On Monday Karen Samuels and honors at the Weekday Kinder garten at Bethesda, as Allan had reached the glorious age of six during last weekend also. Dale Stancil joined the Kindergarten group for the occasion. Briefs E. S. Warner of Danville, Calif, is spending a couple of weeks with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bundt and children formerly of South Bend, Ind., are spending some time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Caviness and other relatives here, and will move to Sanford shortly to make their home there. Mrs. Frank Mizell is spending iseveral days in Chapel Hill with Mrs. Stuart Harmon. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Muse and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Crutchfield, visited relatives in Clinton, N. C. Mon day Mrs. J. K. Bridgers and Mrs, Nancye McClellan spent Monday in Charlotte. Mr. and Mrs. Wade Mobley and family spent Sunday in Wilson visiting his sister, Mrs. R. A. Hol loman, and family. They were joined by his parents and bro'th- er and family from Williamston. Willis Clark, student at Wake Forest, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harris Clark. Mrs. Lee Biuchan and Mrs. Carl Wynn attended a committee meeting of the Hospital Roundup at the Nursing Home Monday morning. Plans were made for the May 4th Roundup benefit for the Moore Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Harris Clark and family attended the Currie Bar bour wedding in Jackson Springs Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Sharp of Wilson spent the weekend with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Garland Williamson, Alton Shaker of Rocky Mt. spent the wteekend with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shaker.
