Page TWENTY VICTOR GROSE GETS BRONZE PALM Boys Given Advancements, Awards At Moore District Court of Honor The April Moore District Boy Scout Court of Honor was held last week in the Aberdeen High School Auditorium. The opening and closing ceremony was given by Troop 68, Aberdeen, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Bobby Willard. The Bronze Palm award was presented by Scoutmaster Jimmie Smith to Victor Grose, Troop 68, son of Mr. and Mrs. V. U. Grose of Aberdeen. Scoutmaster Prank Boing of Carthage presented Life Rank Advancements to Bob Matthews, Trooip 68, Aberdeen and Hoke Pollock, Troop 223 Southern Pines. The Star Rank Advancement was presented by Troop Commit teeman J. K. Melvin, . Jr. to James F. Sheppard, Troop 206, of Pine- bluff; Mike Adams and Larry Mobley, Troop 68, Aberdeen; Ron nie Williams, Troop 702, McCain; John Harris, Troop 74, Robbins; and Tommy Perry, Troop 223, Southern Pines. News and Personals from Vass By MRS. CHARLES CAMERON MYF Conducts Service Palm Sunday was observed at the Vass Methodist church by the members of the MYF in charge of the morning worship service and special music by the Youth Choir. In the order of service, the call to worship was given by the choir. Danny Williams read the Holy Scriptures and offered prayer. The responsive reading was led by Clifton Hudson. The regular Sunday morning junior sermon was brought by the MYF presi dent, Patsy Callahan. Special music was rendered by the Youth Quartet—Jim Ed Thomas, Henry Callahan, Clifford Hudson, and A1 Edwards. The sermon was de livered by Dariny Williams. Fol lowing the benediction, the choir gave the choral response. Reminder The County book for registra tion will be open for the next four Saturdays, begining this Saturday, April 21, at the Town Hall. To be eligible to vote in the May primary election every one must register. Mrs. Ray Grif fin is registrar for the Vass pre cinct. Supper and Egg Hunts The Training Union of the Vass Baptist Church will have a picnic supper and egg hunt at the church Sunday afternoon at 5;00. The annual egg hunt will be held at the Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. Saturday. Birthday Party Mrs. Ray Griffin was hostess at a birthday party for her son. Tommy, at his home Tuesday afternoon. A number of little friends enjoyed playing games and refreshments of ice cream and cake. Favors of individual Easter baskets were given to the chil dren. Guests present to help Tom my celebrate his sixth birthday were: Nicky and Andy Futrell, Jimmy Mullinix, Tony Burwell, Mark and Kent Bullock, Gary Peele and Jane Cameron. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Roby Futrell and children viisted with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard De Mott at Charlotte Courthouse, Va. S/Sgt. W. R. and Mrs. McGill and children of Suitland, Md. arrived Saturday for a week’s visit with Mr. and Mrs. D. H. McGill and Mrs. Hilda Parker in Niagara.
