McNEILL New Arrival Mr. and Mrs. Pratt Gallimore announce the birth of a baby girl, Monday, May 1, at Moore Mem orial Hospital. Th.3 baby weigh ed six pounds, 14% ounces and has been given the name Cather ine Elizabeth. Mrs. Gallimore is the former Miss Pearl McFarland. YWCA HEAD Miss Sandra Brown, freshman at Louisburg College, was elected president of the Young Women’s Christian Association for the school year 1962-63. The YWCA and the YMCA are the two lead ing organizations on the Louis burg College Campus. Page Memorial Methodist Church met jointly in the educational building Monday, May 7, at 12 noon for a covered-dish lunch eon. Mrs. R. M. Hooper, president, presided. The Rev. Brooks Patten led the invocation. Mrs. Patt Satterwhite was in charge of the program and intro duced Mrs. Carl Maynor, rural worker at Pembroke, who gave an interesting talk to the group concerning her work there. Mrs. Maynor is supported by the Wes leyan Service Guilds of the Meth odist Conference. Briefs The m.ambers of Brownie Troop 98 met Thursday for a picnic at the lake. She is an honor student and has maintained a B average so far this year. Rey-1 nolds and the following officers were installed by Red Arnold of Hamlet, a former national Jaycee, vici3-president; Everette Guion, j first vice-president; Clayton | Dunn, second vice-president; Billy Cole, treasurer; Ed Lan caster, corresponding secretary; John McKenzie, recording secre- | tary; Ken Cox, state director; and Ernest Owens, director at large. Troop No. 108 Girl Scouts of Troop No. 108 enjoyed a cook-out last Thursday given by Mrs. Lawrence Johnson and their leader, Mrs. L. B. Har rington. The outing was held at a lake in Forest Hills. The fifteen members and guests enjoyed Bar- Bi-Que hamburgers with all the fixings, soft drinks, and “smores” which they made for dessert. Young Adults The Fellowship Class of the Page Memorial Methodist Church enjoyed a cook-out at Adain Gar ner’s lake on Sunday afternoon. This was held in connection with Christian,-Family - Week. The group enjoyed a steak supper. Boats were provided on the lake by several members and members enjoyed leisure rides. Jay Greer was in charge of the supper, John Hedden is president of the class, and lead teacher is Mrs. Charles Pullen of McCain. Approximately 50 persons were present for the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sierer and children of Ashland, Ky. were weekend guests of W. R. Dicken son, Jr., and family. Mrs. Sierer and children remained for a month’s visit. Mrs. Frank Jeffrey and daugh ter, Mrs. J. E. Williams of Reids- ville and Mr. and Mrs. Garnett Fallenstein of High Point spent the weekend with Mrs. W. P. Parker and attended the Vass- Lakeview Alumni Banquet Sat urday evening. Mrs. Edith Gotch attended the Beauty Show in Charlotte last weekend featuring hair tinting and styling. The Rev. and Mrs. R. D. Spear, Jr. and Amy were in Columbia, S. C. Tuesday where Mr. Spear officiated for the marriage cere mony of a cousin. Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Townsend of Laurinburg' were Sxmday guests of Mrs. C.- C. Bethune. Melvin Williams, student at Wake Forest College, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Williams. Miss Judy Hobbs, student at Campbell, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Hobbs. Dr. W. C.-T^eill and H. Clifton Blue are representing Fayette ville Presbytery at the meeting o fthe General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Winston- Salem.
