KEEP UP WITH LATE VALUES IN PILOT ADS Hunting Season Change Proposed; Meeting Scheduled Tarheel quail, rabbit and wild turkey hunters will get a fourday bonus for hunting this year if sportsmen throughout the state go along with a proposal by the Wildlife Commission to open the season on these species November 17 instead of the traditional Thanksgiving Day opening that would fall on November 22. The proposed season would run through February 16. Last year’s season ended February 15. The reason given for the pro posed earlier opening date is that hunters would get a chance to harvest game earlier in the season that would otherwise be lost through natural mortality. Other than the earlier opening for quail, rabbits and wild turkey, the Wildlife Commission is pro posing only minor changes in hunting dates in the nature of calendar adjustments. Bag limits on all species would remain un changed. In response to requests from archers the Commission proposes to schedule three days of archery hunts on the Sandhills Wildlife Management Area. Prosposed hunting regulation will be presented to the public in a series of meetings over the State. The District 6 meeting, for this area, will be held at the courthouse in Albemarle at 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 18. Fifty-four million people live in rural areas in the U. S. extra 18 holes were necessary be fore Palmer could regain his Masters title from Player last fonth in Augusta. All net proceeds frewn the match will go to the Bud Wor sham Memorial Fund, a scholar ship established by Palmer for worthy students to attend his alma mater in memory of a for mer golfing partner killed in an automobile accident.
