Indiana Ave. died Sunday at Moore Memorial Hospital. Funer al services v/ere held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at Powell Funeral Chapel with Dr. C. K. Ligon, ex ecutive secretary of Fayetteville Presbytery, officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Cowin was the former Anita Kingsley of Cleveland, Ohio, who moved here with her husband in 1954. PARACHUTE DROPS, SKYDIVING SHOW INCLUDED Armed Forces Day Program Set For Saturday At Bragg & Pope Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base will combine forces and fa cilities for open house observances of Armed Forbes Day, Saturday, May 19 from 8 a. m. through 5 p. m. The purpose of Armed Forces Day is to provide a report to the people of the United States on the status of the Armed Forces. The theme, “Power For Peace,” em phasizes the concept that freedom and national security depend upon the strength of national unity and understanding. Each installation will have dis plays and demonstrations of weapons, aircraft, vehicles and other selected items of military equipment at midway-type ex hibitions on the Polo Field, Ran dolph St., Fort Bragg, and at Base Operations, Manchester Rd., Pope AFB. The Army midway will be open from 8 a. m. to 5 p. m., and the Air Force midway from 9:30 a. m. to 2:30 p. m. Special flight line taxies will be operating continuously at the Pope midway. Airborne-Air Force-Army Avi ation demonstrations are sched uled for Sicily Drop Zone at 10 a. m. and 3 p. m. These demonstra tions will include personnel and heavy equipment parachute drops by units of Strategic Army Corps’ 82nd Airborne Division, assault landing demonstrations by Tacti cal Air Command’s 464th Troop Carrier Wing C-123 aircraft, ar tillery fire from the drop zone by XVIII Corps Artillery units and static weapons displays. Here the public will see how the versatil ity of S'TRAC forces and equip ment are tied together with TAC’s tactical air capabilities. Skydiving Show The morning and afternoon Air borne-Air Force-Army Aviation demonstrations wiU be concluded with a skydiving show by the Army Skydiving Team. XVIII Airborne Corps Artillery units will stage a firepower dem onstration to illustrate the effec tiveness and capabilities of mod em artillery weapons, at 1:30 p. m. on the Coleman Impact Area. This demonstration will include the firing of an Honest John rocket with a nuclear simulator burst. The music will be furnished by the 440th Army Band. The finale of the retreat ceremony will be a skydiving ex hibition by the Army Skydiving Team. Bus and truck transportation will be provided between the Fort Bragg housing areas. Fort Bragg midway. Pope AFB mid way and the locations of major events by the XVIII Airborne Corps transportation units and the 464th Transportation Squad ron. In case of inclement weather, the Army indoor displays will be set up in the Fort Bragg Skating Rink on Longstreet Rd., and the Air Force displays will be located in Hanger 4, Pope AFB, on Man chester Rd. Any inclement weather decisions will be relayed to the public through radio sta tions. Mrs. Hussey, 54, Of Robbins Dies Mrs. Gertie Cockman Hussey, 54, of Robbins, died Wedfiesday afternoon of last week. Funeral ser\dces were conducted Saturday at 2 p. m. at the Flint Hill Bap tist Church by the Rev. Amos Garner, the Rev. Doric Sullivan and the Rev. Clyde Cockman. Burial was in the church ceme tery. Surviving is a son, WiUiam Cagle, of the home.
