McNEILL Homecoming Game Aberdeen maintained its top position in the lA conference Fri day evening by defeating St. Pauls 53-6 in its annual Home coming game. During the halftime, the Home coming Court for 1963 was pre sented and the Homecoming Queen announced. Miss Bobbie Holt was crowned Homecoming Queen of 1963 by the 1962 Queen, Miss Gail Gschwind. The queen was voted on by the football team from a bevy of representatives chosen by the high school classes. Senior representatives were: Barbara Maurer, Sara Odom, Pat Buchanan, and Connie Calloway. Junior representatives were: Celeste Green, Mary Veasey, Betty Jo Swaim, and Bobbie Holt. Sophomore representatives were: Cheryl Gschwind, Libby Maurer, and Ann Wright. The young miss who carried the bouquet of red roses for the queen was Miss Beth Buffkin and David J. McNeill was crown bearer. Following the game, a Home coming Dance was held in the student center. God-Counlry Award During the morning service of worship at Bethesda Presbyteri an Church Sunday morning Lindsay Neill and Johnny Burns were awarded the God and Coun try Award, a high honor in scout ing. Aberdeen Troop 68 attended the service en masse and gave the Scout Oath and Laws as part of the ceremony. Scoutmaster Bobby Willard es corted the honored Scouts to the rostrum, where they were met by their mothers for the presenta tion. Dr. W. C. Neill, who worked with these scouts in the comple tion of requirements for this award, pinned the award on his son and the other recipient. Lind say is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Neill, and Johnny is the son of Mrs. Catherine McN. Burns. Deacons Meeting Among those from Bethesda Church who attended the Dea tons Stewardship meeting at Camp Monroe Sunday afternoon and evening were: Gordon Keith, Drewry Troutman, A1 Folley, Neill McKeithen, A1 Cruce, Cur tis Mclnnis, Frank McNeill, Vic lor Grose. Jake Bridgers, Neill A. McLeod, Dr. W. C. Neill, and representatives from the Wom en of the Church, Mrs. Jim Mc Keithen and Mrs. Grace Houston. Briefs Mr. and Mrs. George Gwyn of Laurinburg spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Gwyn. Mr and Mrs Ufa Matthews and children spent the weekend at Windy Hill. S. C. Mrs. Neill Graham of Durham is visiting her mother, Mrs. Ralph Leach, Sr. for several days. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Pleasants, Mrs. George Martin, and Mrs. Le roy Harrington are on a 10-day trip to the New England states. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Dona- than and children, Mr. and Mrs. George Pappendick and children, and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Buchan and family spent the weekend at Ocean Drive. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Brendell and Lynn spent Saturday in Charlotte. Mr. and Mrs. Billy McMaster and daughters of Red Springs were here for several days dur ing the weekend, due to the death of Mr. McMaster’s father. Charles McMaster, of Pinebluff Friday. Among those college students home for the weekend were: Jane Brady and Carol Troutman of Pfeiffer: David Funderburk of Wake Forest; Jimmy Whitlock of Guilford; Betsy and Susie Bridgers, Martha Wicks, and Bar bara Caviness of St. Andrews. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Garner of Raleigh spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lynwood Moon and family. Mrs. H. Clifton Blue and Clif ton Blue, Jr. joined House Speak er Blue in Raleigh Monday after noon to attend the special enter tainment at the State Fair given by Governor and Mrs. Sanford and Commissioner and Mrs. Bal- lentine for the Legislators and their families. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith of Win ston-Salem and Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Smith Of Charlotte vis ited Mrs. Jack Smith and Mrs. Grace Sloan last weekend. Mrs. Herbert Miller and Mrs. Jack Phillips of Asheboro were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Muse. Sgt. Robert Gotch arrived home Monday following a two- year tour of duty in France. Mrs. F. S. Weaver is the cur rent winner Of the Aberdeen Home and Garden Club Award for the overall beauty of her yard. Mrs. J. V. Rowe, Mrs. F. A. Cummings, Mrs. T. A.
