With'the high school basketball
season in its third week of play,
only two boys teams, Pinehurst
and Aberdeen, and three girls
teams—Pinehurst, West End and
Carthage—remain unbeaten.
This indicates a close race in
the conference, as was anticipated
before the season began.
One of tbs top games played
last Friday was the Aberdeen-
Southern Pines boys’ encounter
which was won by Aberdeen in
an exciting contest, 55-51. Wayne
Lewis led the Red Devils with 21
points while Francis Warr.sn col
lected 21 also for the Blue
Knights.
A last-second basket by Mike
Lewis enabled Robbins to edge
Carthage boys by a 45-44 score in
a feature game played Tuesday at
Robbins.
