Mr. and Mrs. Victor Wade were hosts at a cocktail party on De cember 19. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Van Nat ter, Col. and Mrs. iL. H. Mc- Culley, Mr. and Mrs. Gaither Ed wards, and Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Hardee honored James B. Black at a progressive birthday party on December 20. Mr. and Mrs. James B. Black welcomed a number of their friends at a brunch on December 22. Bridge was also enjoyed by the guests. Mr. and Mrs. Don W. Heppes entertained a group of their friends at a brunch on December 29. Col. and Mrs. L. H. McCulley arranged for a Christmas Carol singing party on December 24. Their guests made visits to the various homes in Whispering Pines singing Christmas Carols and then ended up at the Mc- Culleys’ home for cake and cof fee. Mr. and Mrs. George N. Adams entertained friends at a cham pagne breakfast at the Dobbs House Restaurant, Whispering Pines, on New Year’s Morning. A group of about 25 couples, residents of Whispering Pines, welcomed the incoming year at a dutch party at the Dobbs House Restaurant, New Year’s Eve. S. Civil Service Examiners, Veterans Administration Hospital, Fayetteville, N. C. The examination is being con ducted to fill positions at the Fayetteville Veterans Administra tion Hospital. The registers may be used to fill vacancies in other federal agencies in the area. The examination will remain open until the needs of the service are met. McCul ley spent Christmas Day with Mrs. McCulley’s mother, Mrs. Lloyd P. Dees, at her home in Raleigh. Christmas Visits Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Hardee, with their daughter Martha and son Ronnie, spent psirt of Christmas day with Mr. Hardee’s father in Greenville, and part with Mrs. Hardee’s sister, Mrs. William Hargett, in Jacksonville. To Hamlel Mr. and Mrs. George N. Adams spent part of the Christmas Holi days with their daughter, Mrs. William W. Fetner, in Hamlet. Ladies Golf Association The members of the Whispering Pines Ladies Golf Association will resume their regular play on January 7. These weekly meetings are well attended and the com petition is spirited. New members I are invited. ■ !
