The two proposed dams are part of the Cape Fear River Basin flood control and water conserva tion project in which the New Hope dam in Chatham County— the largest—has already been au thorized. The Howard’s Mill damsite is in northern Moore County, only a few miles from the Randolph County line. The lake the propos ed dam would create would lie largely in Randolph.
