The Rev. Joseph Jennings offi dated and Max Daumer provided the music. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Joseph Fer razzi The bridegroom’s parents ,are Mr. and Mrs. Channing N. Page of Southern Pines. Given in marriage by her fath er, the bride wore a street length dress of white lace and carried a bouquet of white roses. Mrs. James I. Meade of Jack sonville, Fla., sister of the bride, was her matron of honor. She wore an aqua dress of lace and linen and carried yellow and white roses. The Carolina Golf Association played its weekly tournament Sunday, June 7, on the champion ship course at Whispering Pines Country Club. There were 216 en tries playing in three classes of A, B, and C. Class A, having 77 players, was designated for those with handicaps of 0-8; Class B, 86 players, handicaps of 9-14; and Class C, 53 players, handicaps of 15 and over. Those from this area awarded prizes were: Class A—Carlos Frye, Southern Pines, 3rd Low Net, 71-7-64. Class B—Hayes McCulley, Whispering Pines, 7th Low Net, 75-11-64; and Bill Purcell, South ern Pines, 10th Low Net, 75-9-66. National Golf Day The 13th Annual National Golf Day, May 30, was observed by many at Whispering Pines. Con testants, competing again Jack Nicklaus, PGA Champion, and Julius Boros, USGA Open Cham pion, played against the cham pion in terms of par, not on a basis of actual strokes. National Golf Day is an annual event, and net proceeds went to golf charities, golf education, cad die scholarships and other worth while golf projects. AU golfers are eligible with full handicaps, and all ladies receive seven additional strokes. Twilight Tournament The Whispering Pines Golf Club’s 9-Hole Twilight Tourna ment played last Friday evening was a Best Ball of the Foursome event. Winners were: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ault and Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Hardee, with net scores of 26. Ladies Golf Association The Ladies Golf Association of Whispering Pines held their regu lar play last Tuesday. Winners with Low Net scores. Class A, were Mildred Clemmer, a guest, and Class B, Estelle Pruitt; Low I Putts winners were. Class A, Do Morse, and Class B, Judy Black. : Entertain Golfers I Many of those who had partici pated in last Friday’s Twilight Tournament were guests later in the evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gaither Edwards on Lake Thagard. The get-together was a farewell to Mr. Edwards, who left Saturday night for Miamli Beach to attend the an nual convention of the Production Credit Association at the Hotel Americana, and, also, a welcome party for Major and Mrs. Edgar P. Holt, formerly of Cherry Point. Major Holt has recenlty retired from military service, and he and Mrs. Holt are new residents at Whispering Pines. A delightful buffet was served, and during the evening impromp tu entertainment was provided by Mrs. Pauline (Edgar) Holt, rendering a vocal selection, and Mrs. “Lib” (Hayes) McCuUey, who rendered a very graceful dance solo, attired in an “instant” costume designed by Mrs. Helen Edwards. Pioneers Winners in the Pioneers Medal Play Tournament last week were: first place, H. L. Brinldey with a net 66; and tying for second place were Leroy Bateman and Watt Welker with a net of 70 each. Summer Vacation Miss Martha Hoell Hardee, a student at St. Mary’s Junior Col lege, and Ronnie Hardee, a stu dent at Virginia Episcopal School, have returned home for summer vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Hardee met Mar tha Hoell at the Raleigh-Durham Airport on Wednesday after her visit to West Point, where she was a guest of Cadet William Hargett, Jr. The Hardees then drove on to Lynchburg, Va., where they picked up Ronnie be fore returning home on Thursday afternoon. Her fiance is the son of Mrs. Lennie Williams of Southern Pines. MRS. MICHAEL MAX FISKIN NOON CEREMONY IN EMMANUEL CHURCH UNITES MISS PEARSON AND MR. FISKIN In a noon-day ceremony attend ed by members of the immediate family and close friends. Miss Diana Webb Pearson and Michael Max Fiskin were married at Em manuel Episcopal Church. The Rev. R. Martin Caldwell, rector, officiated. Hoke Dickinson Pol lock served as acolyte and wed ding music was presented by the church organist, William Whitley. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Annabelle Webb Pearson of Southern Pines, and of Harlow S. Pearson of Las Vegas, Nev. Her husband is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fiskin, of Los Angeles, Calif. Given in marriage by her uncle. Dr. Alexander Webb of Raleigh, the bride wore a street-length dress of ivory peau de sole, with ivory colored elbow-length veil of tulle. She carried her maternal grandmother’s prayerbook show ered with orchids. ROTARY SPEAKER— Dr. P. Leslie Bullock of St. An drews Presbyterian College, Laurinburg, will be guest speaker at Friday’s luncheon meeting of the Southern Pines Rotary Club at the Country Club. He is director of the College’s Christianity and Culture Program, chairman of the Division of Religion and Philosophy and professor of Bible. He will be introduced by R. H. Hannah, program chairman. Dr. Bullock was formerly professor of Bible at Flora Facdonald College, Red Springs, and had previously served as pastor of the Pres byterian Church of the Co venant at Houston, Texas. Junior Woman’s Club To Hold Story Hour For Children 5-9 The Junior Woman’s Club will conduct a Story Hour at the Southern Pines Library during the summer months. Of interest* to the five-nine age group, it will be held each Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., beginning June 16. A schedule of stories to be told in June, and the story - tellers, follows. Her attendant was Miss Joyce Kurz of New York City. Jay Fiskin of New York City was his brother’s best man. Wil liam Durward Pollock Grady of Southern Pines ushered. Immediately following the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Ostrom entertained the bridal party and guests at luncheon at their home. The couple then left to drive to Los Angeles, where they will live. Mrs. Fiskin, who graduated from the East Southern Pines High School, attended St. Mary’s Junior College in Raleigh. She made her debut in 1961 at the Debutante Ball sponsored by the Terpsichorean Club in Raleigh. For the past year and a half, she has been associated with Time, Inc. in New York City. Mr. Fiskin is a technical advisor of the Newark Electronic Corpor ation at their offices in Los An geles. Before going to work for the corporation, he was in the U. S. Air Force for four and a half years, stationed in Japan and Vietnam, Oul-of-town Guests Out-of-town guests at the wed ding included Mr. and Mrs. Ar thur R. Y. The bride-elect, who is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Denison K. Bullens of Knollwood, Southern Pines, graduated from Dana Hall, Wellesley, Mass., and on Saturday, graduated from the University of Tennessee with highest honors. She is a Torch- bearer, a member of Phi Kappa Phi honorary group and Mortar Board. She is a former Symphony Belle, past president of her sorority. Delta Gamma, and was a Homecoming Queen finalist and a Miss Tennessee tinalist. She is listed in “Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges.” Mr. Lutes is attending the University of Tennessee, where he is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Henderson Belk To Address Christian Women’s Club Meet Henderson Belk, vice president and director of the Belk Stores will be the guest speaker at the June luncjieon of the Sandhills Christian Women’s Club, to be held Wednesday, June 17 at 12 noon at the Whispering Pines Dobbs House Restaurant. Miss Morse is a qualified authority on this subject, having studied and graduated from the Charles of the Ritz School in New York City. Leaving Sunday to attend Moonelon Camp at Elon College next week are Susan Gantt and Rosemary Wallace. Officers Installed At LPN Meeting Speakers at the June 2 meeting of Licensed Practical Nurses of Area 13 were Mrs. Doris B. Crow der, executive secretary of the N. C. LPN Association; Mrs. Dorothy Moore, and Mrs. Margaret Inman, director of Pinehurst Nursing Homes, where the dinner meeting was held Mrs. Crowder installed a new slate of officers for the recently organized area, in an impressive candle-lighting service.
