Youth Fellowship The Youth Fellowship of the Presbyterian Church elected the following officers: Becky Mark ham, vice-president, Sandra Hart- sell; secretary, Bess Cheney and treasurer, Jane Jackson. The junior class of the high school is conducting its magazine subscription sale. The class will be happy to take new subscrip tions or renewals, and if a mem ber has not caUed, just call the school. Mrs. W. M. Thompson and Miss Rebecca McLeod are the Junior Sponsors and they too urge support of this drive. Distributive Education For the second year West End High School is offering Distribu tive Education as part of the Vo cational Curriculum. Students who are interested in a career of distribution are enrolled in the program as j.uniors and continue in it until graduation. In the 11th grade, a student takes prepara tory course called Marketing 1, in which he is taught the basic concepts of wholesaling, retailing, and services. In addition, to Mar keting 1, a student takes the reg ular high school courses, and leaves school after lunch for on- the-job training in local business. The following juniors are en rolled in the program: Beulah Atkins, Tommy Boroughs, Mike Bowman, Larry Brewer, Leon Dunn, Linda Freeman, Rennie Freeman, Betty Hancock, Ernest Hancock, Elgie Hannah, Teresa Luck, Brenda McKenzie, Larry McKenzie, Jean Monroe, Mar shall Nall, Lawrence Pritchard, Bobby Pusser, Terry Reid, Cath erine Richardson, Wayne Rich ardson, C. R. Smith, Jimmy Rob bins. Larry Thomas and Steph en Thomas. Seniors who are in their second year in Distributive Education are: Ray Blakely, James Dick, ‘ Jimmy Dunn, Sammy Fishel, Frances Hancock, Benny Jones, Michael McLean, Jimmy Munn and Walter Staley. Omission Jane ^ Jackson was omitted from the list of Senior Class of ficers published last week. She is the class secretary. TV Stand Given The SandhiU Furniture Cor poration has contributed a chest to be used in the elementary school library as a stand for the television. Attend Game Mr. and Mrs. James N. White of Charlotte with the Rev. George Cheney, Bess Jane and 1 Becky Markham, attended the State-Carolina football game Saturday afternoon in Chapel Hill. Other West Enders there were Jane Jackson, Dianne Wil liams, Judy Upole, Richard Wil son, Carlyle Cole and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Auman with Jean and Laura. Glee Club Mrs. Colon Spencer, director of the high school glee club an nounces that she has a larger group than last year and she an ticipates a most successful year.
