Wicker, Moore Coun ty forest ranger, announced this week that the brush burning per mit season for Moore County and North Carolina begins October 1 and will continue until June 1. During that period it is unlaw ful to start a fire outdoors more than 100 feet from an occupied dwelling house or within 500 feet of a State-protected forest area during the hours from midnight to 4 p. m., without first getting a permit from a fire warden or his deputy. The State and Federal fire prevention organization is set up to assist the public and to help control fires, as well as to prevent the burning of wood lands and the destruction of tim ber, he reminded.
