THE T CANFOIID.M 'FOOTE'S SKETCHES' Noted Book To Be Reissued By Presbyterians Announcement has been made by Dr. Harold J. Dudley, general secretary of the Synod of North Carolina’’ will be ready for dis- mous “Foote’s Sketches of North Carolina” wilyl be ready for dis tribution by approximately De cember 1. The re-publishing of the fa mous chronicles are being made possible as a joint project of the Committee on Historical Matters of the Synod of North Carolina, Presbyterian Church in the United States, and the North Carolina Presbyterian Historical Society. The “Sketches” first appeared in 1846 and were re-published by order of the Presbyterian Synod of North Carolina in 1912. Copies of the first edition are sought by rare book dealers and sell expen sively. The Rev. William Henry Foote, D. D., a Presbyterian clergyman, was born in Connecticut in 1794 and died in Romney, West Vir ginia in 1869. All persons who order books by November 1 are being offered a discount. Driver Licenses Soon To Provide For Medical Data According to Commissioner Ed ward Scheldt of the North Caro lina Department of Motor Ve hicles all new and renewed driv er’s licenses issued n North Car olina, beginning in November, will provide a form for medical information which could be use ful in the event of an emergency. The special form, believed to be the first in the United States to be made a part of a driver’s license, provides space for blood type (group and Rh factor), the date of your last tetanus shot (and whether it was toxiod or an- totoxin), drugs or medicines a person may be taking or to which he is allergic and other medical data such as conditions of diabetes or epilepsy or the wearing of contact lens. The new addition to the driv er’s license was suggested by the Committee on Trauma of the North Carolina Chapter of the American College of Surgeons as a part of a continuing statewide program to improve medical care for accident victims.
