North Carolina Page A AT TRAINING SCHOOL— Readers needn’t be outraged that firemen would line up to have their picture taken as a building burns down nearby. It was planned that way. Fire men practiced blaze fighting techniques when the old, abandoned structure, off Highway 15- 501 between Southern Pines and Pinehurst, was set on fire for demonstration purposes. This was part of a four-day District Training f .->oi for volunteer firemen from Southern Pines, Pinehurst, Aberdeen, Pinebluff, Vass and Eagle Springs, conducted at the Pinehurst Fire Station last week, under auspices of the State Insurance Commissioner. About 47 fire men from the Sandhills area attended. (Hemmer photo) WEST END NEWS and PERSONALS BY SALLY AUMAN Special Course The Rev.
