The Reverend James H. Harris Jr. officiated as the couple pledged their double- ring vows. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James D. Hall of Rockingham. She is a 1979 graduate of Richmond Senior High School and is employed at Ri^mond Memorial Hospital. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Layton of Aberdeen. A 1976 graduate of Pinecrest High School he is now manager of Rockingham Car Wash. Wedding palms and cande labra decorated the sanc tuary for the “Light of Life” ceremony. Altar vases were sued with white snapdragons, fuji poms, gypsophelia and feverfew. White satin bows marked the family pews. Music was by Ralph Williams, organist, and Ron Taylor, soloist, who sang “The Wedding Song,” “If,” and “Feelings.” Escorted by her father and given in marriage by both parents, the bride wore a formal gown of white satin-faced organza enhanced with reem broidered raschel lace. A scalloped band of matching lace trimmed the mushroom pleated cape effect of the bodice and was repeated in a wide border at the hemline of the A4ine skirt and attached chapel train. Her waltz-length veil of illusion, edged in matching scalloped lace, was attached to a bridal cap of lace and crystal pleated organza. She carried a nosegay of steplianotis, fuji poms and gypsophelia. Miss Crystal Rogers of Rockingham was the bride’s honor attendant. Her gown was of blue floral print silesta chiffon on an ivory background. The full, A-line skirt was attached to a blouson bodice that featured short, push-up sleeves and off- shoulder peasant neckline. She wore a halo of blue tinted gyp* sophelia in her hair and carried a hand bouquet of white carnations surrounded by blue gypsophelia tied with blue and white satin streamers. Serving as bridesmaids were Misses Karen Terry and Rica Bradley and the bride’s sister-in- law, Mrs. Linda Hall, all of Rockingham; and the bridegroom’s sister, Mrs. SherrUl Daniels of Goldsboro. Their gowns were identical to the honor attendant’s and they, too, wore blue flowers in their hair. Each carried a bouquet of blue carnations with gypsophelia and blue satin streamers. The bride’s cousin, Cindy Nelson of Rockingham, was Missionaries To Alaska Set Church Visit Missionaries who will be leaving shortly for Alaska will be in the Sandhills Sunday, July 1 for services at 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the Sandhills Assembly, said Rev. David Hicks. Mark and Sharon Faison, who incidentally are his in-laws, are graduates of Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri and are now working at the Assembly Church in Sdienec- tedy, N.Y. Mark Faison is Joan Hicks’ brother. In New York, the Faisons have beoi working as Educational Directors. They are now visiting the Sandhills Assembly and other churches to prepare for their move to Alas^. Based in Anchorage, the Faisons will travel throughout Alaska in their mission with native Alaskans and will work to construct churches there. The public is invited to the Sandhills Assembly, located on US 1 north of Southern Pines, on Sunday to meet the Faisons, said Rev. Hicks. The couple will be ministering in song in each service alw. She was remembered with a white cymbidium orchid corsage. Mrs. Layton, mother of the bridegroom, was attired in a floor-length gown of cornflower blue maracaine knit designed with a sleeveless bodice, A-line skirt and matching chiffon fingertip cape. She, too, was {xesented with a white cym bidium orchid. Both mothers were remembered with a long stem red rose from the bride as she made ho* way to the altar. Seated in places of honor and ronembered vrith corsages of white carnations were the bride’s grandmothers, Mrs. Doris Nelson of Ellerbe and Mrs. Robert Hall of Rockingham and the bridegroom’s grandmother, Mrs. Pearl Baxley of Lumberton. Reception A reception followed in the church fellowship hall. The buffet tables featured yellow pleated skirting and imported linen and lace cloths. Highlighting the decorations was a five-branched can delabrum arranged with yellow and white snapdragons, fuji poms, gypsoiriieUa and burning yellow tapers. After the bridal couple cut the traditional first slice of their wedding cake, the cake was cut and s^ved by Mr. and Mrs. James Miller of Lumberton, uncle and aunt of the bridegroom.
