These are by the Moore Countv Historical Associa tion. Answers to questions concern ing historic Moore County homes, and inns. 1. The Street Medical Building is located on the south side of Deep River. It was built in the late 1700’s and has been used as a law office and medical office by three generations of doctors. 2. The Bryant House is located near the junction of State Road 1210 leaving 211 a little west of the traffic circle and State Road 1261, westward from Carthage. 3. The Shaw House is located at the crossing of Pee Dee and Morganton roads, among the earliest in Moore County. It is the oldest home in Southern Pines. 4. The Bruce-Dowd-Kennedy home is the oldest house in Car thage. Dr. C.S. Bruce built it as a wedding gift for his daughter, Mrs. Clem Dowd which was later bought by Powell Kennedy, grandson of David Kennedy who was noted for gunsmithing. 5. The Daniel C. Campbell House was built around 1850, located on Road 1644 north of Car thage, using Road 1006 until near Deep River. This was on the Fayetteville-Salem Plank Road. 6. Paint Hill Farm was built around 1820, a point which is sometimes called Mount Helicon, at the Head of the Rockfish, and is located in Southern Pines near Highland Trails. It is the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ives. 7. The John Blue House is in Aberdeen on Blue Road going toward Bethesda. It was built in 1888 for the founder of the Aber deen and Rockfish railroad. 8. The New England House is in Southern Pines and was original ly called the Vermont House and had roomers. For a time it was a hospital and is now owned as a ministry of Calvary Memorial Church on Bennett Street. 9. The Allison Page House in Aberdeen was built in 1880-81 and is located on “Old Highway Number One” or North Poplar Street as the first Page family home in Moore County. Later it became the home of William Maurer. 10. The Greenwood Inn is located in Cameron and was built to house railroad employes. It was built around 1870 and is now a shop for antiques and collec tibles, owned by Mrs. Isabelle McKeithen Thomas.
