AUSTIN, Directors. ? RUSSIANS RKNEW THE FIGHT. I Make Attack In Force and Captun j Fight Thousand Men. Fighting All Along the Line. Southwest of Brez /any Strongly Fortitied Positions of Germans Taken in Places After the .Most Stubborn Fighting. Petrograd, July 2.? The brilliant Russian advance, the news of which j has sent a wave of rejoicing through I the entire country, was led by War Minister Kerenski in person. For the last four days the war minister has been continuously at the front, spending every effort to urge the troops to advance. He finally rode to the front line trenchcs and placing himself at the head of the troops gave the order to advance. The spectacle of the popular war minister on the field line accomplished what oratory had failed to do and the Russian line swept forward into the German trenchcs. "Western (Russian) front: In the direction of Kovel (Volhynia) in the region of Rudkasitovichskyaya, our scouts under command of four officers, after destroying the wire entangle ments by mines, penetrated the ene my's trenches, killed some of their occupants and captured a number of prisoners. According to the testimony of prisoners the Austrians knew of our attack from two deserters, Sen ior Non-Commissioned Officer Karso kin and Private Kolotuinov. An in vestigation is being made by the au thorities of the governments to which ti'e soldiers named belonged." EDITORS REJECT THE I)R\ PLEA The South Carolina Scribes Refuse to Pass Anti-Saloon Resolution. Beaufort, S. C., June 29. ? The South Carolina Press Association, after a spirited debate today, taMed a resolution by a vote of 23 to 12 fav oring bone dry prohibition by congress as a war measure. That such a reso lution be adopted was requested by J. K. Breedin, State superintendent of the Sooth Carolina Anti-Saloon league. The press association took the position that the matter was not a war measure and that no action should be taken. Among the rights of man there is no right to be idle. Shakespeare was twenty-eight years old when he wrote 14 Romeo and Juliet." Printed Stationery The use of Printed Stationery is no longer confined to the business or prefessional man---Farmers, Con tractors, Builders and in fact men in all walks of life are beginning to realize that Printed Stationery costs but little more than the unprinted kind and that every letter they write is a silent representative. Come in and let us talk it over with you and tell you what it will cost to have your stationery artistically printed. Beaty ?? Lassiter Smithfield, N. C.
