NORTH CAROLINA TO FURNISH. Total Number of 15,974 Draft Men. Credit* of 7.471 Men Who Are Al ready In the National Service. Johnston County to !? urnihh .$51, With Credit of 98. Raleigh, July 21.? A total of 15, 974 men will be furnished by the State of North Carolinu to the reg ular army and the national guard in the first call under the selective draft, ( according to final figures prepared in the adjutant general's office by Mr. J. J. Mackey, who has prepared the es timate after days and days of ardu ous work. The charts showing the State's quota by countics gives the population of ( the various counties, the population of the counties population, the gross quota to be selected, the credits given the State for enlistments in the reg ular army and the national guard, and the net quota. According to those figures, North Carolina with a popu lation estimated by the census bureau at 2,140,266, will furnish a gross quota of 23,486 with crcdits given amounting to 7,471. Winston-Salem city is the largest registration area in the State and will furnish a net quota of 432 men hav ing been credited with 171.
