Resolutions for Rev. K. R. Lanier.
Whereas, our brother and co-labor
er, Rev. R. R. Lanier, has seen fit to
sever his relation with the North
Durham Baptist church as pastor;
and whereas, in doing so he has ac
cepted the pastorate of the Baptist
church at Selma, N. C., thus making
his removal from Durham a neces
sity; therefore, be it resolved by the
Durham Baptist Pastors' Conference,
this twenty-fifth day of February,
iyi8.
First, That we hereby express our
deep regret at losing him as a mem
ber of this conference, of which he
was a faithful, loyal and valuable
member. As a fellow laborer in the
work of our Master he was ever
ready to do what he or his brethren
deemed was his part. As a pastor he
was always loyal to the interests of
his church and faithful and efficient
in ministering to the needs of the
members of his congregation. . As
a minister he was ever true to the
Word of God, never swerving from
the truth, but preaching it in its sim
plicity and beauty. As a friend he
was ever glad to put himself to per
sonal inconvenience that some one
else might be made happier and an
other's lot made easier.
Second, That we commend Brother
Lanier to the Selma church as one
who will be a faithful and efficient
leader; and to the town of Selma as
one who will make them a loyal and
valuable citizen.
Third, That we assure Brother
Lanier that our sympathetic interest
will ever follow him, and that we
wish for him ever increasing success
and constantly enlarging usefulness
in the work of the Lord, whose he is
is and whom he serves.
Fourth, That a copy of these reso
lutions be spread on our minutes, and
that ccpics be sent to the Durham
and Selma papers and The Biblical
Recorder for publication, and that a
copy be sent to Brother Lanier.
