On Sunday night, April 1, about • 11:30 o’clock, God sent His mes senger to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Zell Barnes and took from their home their darling baby, Ce cil Braxton. Cecil was sick only a few days with acid fluid. To know him was j to love him. Cecil was about eighteen months old. He was laid to rest Monday j afiernecn in the family burying \ grond near Little Creek, with a •arge crowd present. Si lent reading, first A and second grades. Spelling contest fourth Lhrough seventh grades. Arithmetic mntest, fourth through seventh grades. (In each of above contests one grade contestant to represent ?ach school.) Speaking contest, one •ontestant to represent each school. I tinging contest: one selection from ; :.u h school. The exhibits will be industrial and literary. There will also be athletic contests each day. Excel lent speakers have been secured, the county superintendent, mem bers of the county board of educa tion and county officials having been invited to be present. Prizes will be griven for bes' results in the various contests. Per "ect attendance certificates will b« given to those who have beei neither tardy nor absent from j school during the term. The seventh grade examination, § which is to be an entrance test § to high schools will be given by ' Miss Mary E. Wells, Assistant j County Superintendent two weeks \ before the close of the eight months school term. All seventh grade pupils of the I county will be required to pass on this entrance test, otherwise they will be debarred from entering | high school next year.
