;iqi0.scntniive in Congress, Vom the Halifax District, was yesterday elected. On the first imd second brdlolings Hutchins Burton, Montfurd Stokes, Alfred Moore and Simmons J. Hakcr, were in nomination, previous to the third balloting,' the name of Dr. Baker was withdrawn, and that of Joseph jl. Bryan was added. When the result of the fifth balloting was ascertained, Gen Bryan's name was withdrawn, and that of Isaac Avery was added. On he sixth balloting, the votes ivor as fohows: : lurton, Stokes, Moore, Avery, 100 47 27 1G From the Raleigh Star, Dec. 3. Electoral Vole of North Carolina. The Electoral Col lege of this state convened in the Senate Chamber at this city on "Wednesday last, when General Montfort Stokes was called to the chair, and Gen. Benj. H. Covington appointed Secretary. The list of Electors was called over, and all answering to their names, to wit: Montfort Stokes, of Wilkes, Robert Love, of Haywood, Peter Forney, of Lincoln, Vine Allen, of Craven, James Mcbanc, of Orange, John Giles, of Rowan, William Drew, of Halifax, Josiak Crndup, of Wake, Wm. Martin, of Pasquotank, Wm. A. Blount, of Beaufort, Wm. B. Lockhart, of No'n, Ed. B. Dudley, of N.IIan'r, Aug. H. Shcpperd, of Stokes, IV. F. Leake, of Richmond, M. Morchead, of Guilford, a ballot was taken for President and Vice President of United States. On examining the votes, it appeared that they were unan imouslv for Gen. Andrew Jackson as rresiaeni, ana me Hon. John C. Calhoun as Vice President. Maj. Thomas J. Green, of Warren, was appoin ted to carry a certificate of the election to Washington City. The College, having gone through the business for which it assembled, adjourned. A gun j for each Elector was the fired, I and one for the county of Haywood, which had given an unanimous vote for the Peo ple's Ticket. We understand, that a public dinner will be giv en to-day to the Electors. The Presidency. Louisiana is the only stale remaining to be heard from on the Presiden cy; and although cur returns from Alabama, Mississippi, In diana, and Illinois, arc not com plete, yet,1 from what we have seen, we are satisfied, that in those states, Jackson will only lose three votes, one of which will be given to Mr. Adams, and two to Mr. Clay. Giving Lou isiana to Gen. Jackson, of which there seems to be very little doubt, the following was the state of the poll for the several Presidential Candidates, in the respective colleges on Wednes day last, unless New York should turn another somerset, and bestow her vote in a way that nobody expects: Tor Jackson, H1 Adams, SI Crawford, 40 Clay, 39 PctcrsburgRcp. Foreign. Liverpool Advices : to the 30th Sept. have been re- ccived at N.York. There is no thing very interesting. It ap pears, however, that the Greek cause continues to prosper, not withstanding the left-handed Jnendship of the British au thorities at the Ionian Islands. Georgia. The Legislature; of Georgia, at its present ses sion, have passed an act to a mend the Constitution of that state, so as to give the election oi Governor to the people. Rakish Star.
