At no time in the race was any one nag three lengths behind; and very frequent they could all have been covered with a blanket: (1 was one of the Judges,) and am confident it was the best race I ever saw. The Course teas very heavy. At least one thousand souls attended, from the most respectable gentlemen in Halifax, Scotland Neck, Edge combe and Nash, down to all co lors and sex. At a com pany muster, held at Brinkleys ville, Halifax county, on Saturday the 19th January, 1828, a meeting was hold to appoint delegates to represent said district in the choice of an Elector for the elec toral district, composed of the counties of Halifax, Warren, Franklin and Nash: Resolved, That said citizens arc unanimously in favor of Gen. Andrew Jackson, of Tennessee, for the Presidency, and John C. Calhoun, of South-Carolina, for the Vice-Presidency; and that they will use all honorable means in their power to promote their elec tion, notwithstanding the many vile accusations of the present Cabinet (holding their offices con trary to the will of the people of United States) against them. We view the present Chief Ma gistrate, John Q. Adams, holding his office through a part of the re presentstives, violating the known will of their constituents.
