4 h. Richard D. Spaight, of Craven, loth. Edward B.Dudler.KewHtnnvor. These gentlemen are pledged lativc body lias power under the Constitution to grant a stay of ex ecution two, four, or six months, which we see they have done, who will dispute their constitutional right to grant a stay tor twelve, eighteen, or twenty-four months? Xo man, I presume. I feel assu med that the greater part of the Jebts now existing in the State, were contracted with an expecta tion of the creditor as well as debtor, to be discharged with the money or circulating medium of the state but, alas! contrary to your expectation, because your creditor has got a little crossed with you, he demands specie in payment, and that without giving vou notice until the very day on which he intends to sell your pro pertyby this means a vast es tate might be swept away to dis charge a debt of small amount, and other creditors not get a cent. And now, fellow-citizens, you are called upon seriously to reflect on the situation of a majority of the inhabitants of your state, and af ter duly weighing the matter to determine, whether it would not be better to compel those who make such unreasonable demands to wait for their money, by ex tending a stay of execution in such cases; or, whether vou would pre fer to see your neighbor's proper ty swept away for a mere whistle. It is with you, fellow-citizens, to determine you can use your con stitutional liberties by assembling together, consult vour general in terest, and instruct your repre sentatives; or, you can stand as idle spectators and see the specu-j Richard H.
