Aldriu all Communication* to THE ENTERPRISE, Williamstoe, N. C. Friday, February 13, iqi4 for Closer Connection ' Citizens of the towns of Ever «tts, Robersonville, Jamesville, and Williamston have forwarded petitions to the officials of the Norfolk-Southern Railroad asking that the local passenger train 1 leaving Norfolk each morning, run to Plymouth instead of stop ping at Edenton, and connect with the A. C. L. train which reaches Plymouth at 2 p. m. This arrangement would allow people to leave any point in Martin County at noon and reach Nor folk in time to catch the Bay Line Steamers for Baltimore. If the N. S. officials will change the schedule as requested, it will be a most convenient route to take especially by business men and the travel will be largely increas ed over the N. S. via Edenton. The people in Martin County transact so much business with Norfolk that any saving in time will mean something to them. Time saved is money saved, when men are busy. The N. S. will earn the appreciation of the peo ple of Martin should they find it reasonable to make the change. The train from Norfolk has sev eral hours wait in Edenton be fore returning in the afternoon and this trip to Plymouth can be made in the interim. When Cole Blease frees, the 400 convicts in the South Caro lina Pen, it is hoped that they will not come this way. We have troubles of our own. Congress had better pass a law prohibiting any more flights of the Aero Corps of the Army. Two officers have been hurled to death within a short time. Men value their lives very lightly when they are doing the work where daring is required. Water and land are full of disasters, and the air is more uncertain. 4 From reports there will be a number of new tobacco markets in North Cart/ina this year. Dunn and Fayetteville both will have markets, and New Bern business men are also arranging to build a tobacco warehouse. This indicates that the business will be on a boom in 1914, and more markets will cause an in crease in acreage. The acreage in Martin County will not be so largely increased though the per cent is noticeable. The two markets in the county expect to do a much larger business this year. Embroidery Club Mrs. A. R. Dunning was host ess to the Club on Tuesday after noon at her home on Main Street. The nearness of St. Valentine's Day furnished pleasing ideas for the pleasure of the guests, which the hostess was happy in carry ing out fh favors and place caf-ds, these being heart-shaped white satin sacshet bag to which minia ure cupids were attached, and valentine cards with the. name ol ich guest.
