Biggs left Wednesday for New York City. / Miss Sue Leggett returned from Littleton College on Wed nesday. Mrs. Henry Hatton 12 the guest of Mrs. George Gurganus in east Williams ton. Mr. and M» s. H. H Pope and family of Robersonville, spent Sunday here with relatives. Dr. and Mrs. James S. Rhodes attended the Shriners (inven tion at Greensboro this week. Mr. and Mrs. J. I). Biggs and little son, of Washington, spent the week-end here with Mrs. C. M. Lanier. W. L. Everett and daughters were visitors in town Wednes day and were pleasant callers at the oflice. Miss Winnie Nicholson with a party of friends, passed through here en route to Hamilton on Sunday. Mrs. Clayton Thigpen and daughter, of Conetoe, spent sev eral days in town last week with relatsves. Mrs. Clara Tilden left for De troit, Mich., Wednesday, where she will spend several monts with her brother. Rev. and Mrs. W- R. Burrell ank J. W Biggs went to Rober sonville Friday p. m., to attend the commencement exercises. Mrs. A. W. Gabler, of Pitts field, Mass., who came to visit afrfe J. B. H. Knight, left Sun day via Palmyra. Messrs. A. R. Dunning, C. H. Godwin, Van Taylor and C. D. Carstarphen left Monday after noon for Greensboro to attend the Shriners Convention. Dr. J. C. Caldwell was unable to reach here Sunday, and there were no services at the Christian church on Sunday morning. At night Rev. Asa J. Manning con ducted the services. Commencement exercises to night., ■ The engine for the lumber mill to ke established by the Cooper age Company is on the grounds and soon the plant will be in op eration. Shooting carp with bow and arrow is one of the local sports, and some fishermen secure a large number of very heavy fish in this manner. The local wa ters are filled with carp. Johnson returned from Hamilton Sunday. Mrs. and Mrs. B. M. Worsley went Scotland Neck Thursday. Miss Malissa Worsley spent a few days in Scotland Neck last week. Misses Ruth fVfid Anna Savage, Jasper and George Everett were here Sunday. Mrs. William Ainsley, of Rop er, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs, Joe Long this week. Mr. and Mrs, J. T. Daniels at tended the commencement at Robcrsonville Friday. Misses Clyde Jordon and, Bea trice Daniels spent a few days in Robersonville last week. Mrs. Daniel Jordan and little son were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Hurst Saturday. Frank, Cleveland and James Reeves and Wilmer Worsley, of Hamilton, were in town Snnday. Miss Anna Savage, of Rocky, Mount, spent sometime with Misses Pearl and Jefferson House last week. Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Hines, Misses Lizzie and Annie Harrell and Lila Philpot spent Saturday night in Tarboro. Misses Gertrude Savage and Gladys Cherry, Messrs. Henry Cherry and Johnnie Eubanks were in town Sundsy. Misses Lizzie and Annie Har rell entertained a few guests last Thursday evening. Music, games Ice cream and cake were enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Hines, Misses Lizzie and Annie Harrell, Mary Hines and Clarice Cart wright spent Sunday in Hamil ton. Miss Susie House, youngest daughter of Mrs. John House of this place and Gordon House, were united in marriage Sunday afternoon. The ceremony was performed in Whitakers. Man's Selfishness.
