Burrasis in Baltimore j for treatment for his ankle which j was broken last fall. Mrs. VV. L. Poteat, of Wake j Forest is the guest of her daugh-' ter, Mrs Wheeler Martin, Jr. Mrs. Musa Brown and Mar-" guerite Cook, of Greenville, are visiting relatives here this week. Mrs Fannie Saunders, of Washington, is the guest of Dr. and Mrs. Saunders this week. * M iss Miriam Stancill and Mrs. John W. Manning spent Easter near Washington with relatives. V. G- Taylor, Cashier of the Planters & Merchants Bank at Everetts, was here Wednesday on business. Robert Biggs and Tom Cox left Monday for Richmond to ac cept a job with the Locomotive Works there. Mrs. Charles Cobb and children of Mildred, are visiting Mr. and Mr. and Mrs. John D. Simpson on Main Street. Mrs. Ellis and daughter and Mrs. Dawson, ot Conetoe spent Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Henry Crawford. Leroy Gurganus is at home from Baltimore, where he went for treatment, and his condition is much improved. Rev. C H. Jordan went to j Hamilton Sunday afternoon to j assist in a children's service held ] bythe Sunday Scho6l. M rs. W O. Andrews, who; went to St. Vincent's Hospital for an operation on the glands of j her neck, has returned greatly ; improved. J. J. Stroud, contractor for the ; new school building, was in town Tuesday. The trustees of the ] school went up to the campus to ' select the part of the'grounds to which the present building is to be moved. Mr. Stroud expected' to J begin the work of excavating ! soon, but will have to wait until) the term closes. At their regular meeting on. Tuesday night of last week, the j Board of Aldermen provided a sinking fund of SI,OOO for the payment of the City Hall. This action on the part of the Board was necessary and they are to be commended for meeting the debt as provided in the laws govern ing the town. _ . NOTICE!
