Watts and son spent Sunday here. M. W. Ballard and Joe Purvis, of Hamilton, were here Monday. Lieut. Elbert S. Peel spent Saturday in town. Mrs. J. G. Staton went to Norfolk Wednesday. Miss Annie Jones and Hy man, of Hamilton, visited here this week. Reginald Burrell, who is in the Naval service, is at home on a visit to his parents. Wilmer Sitterson, Cashier of the Bank of Coletrain, has been in town this week on business Arthur White left. Wednesday for Norfolk, where ne will en list i;i the Navy Miss Sallie Hadley is at home from Hassell. where she taught the past term- Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Sherrod, Mrs. Don Matthews, and Miss Maggie Beile Jones, of Hamilton were in town Wednesday. Garland, Clifton, and Earl Hodges with Mi ss Kathleen Hod ges, of Washington visited friends here Sunday Joe David Thrower, Charles Biggs and Cl'de Anderson, with Misses Lillie Dixon, Ruth and Ethel Brit, motored to Wash ington Sunday Mrs. Anna Harrison was call ed to Lancaster. S. C., to attend the funeral of her hrother-in law, Mr. Belk, and left Wednes day morning * Mr. VV. Simon Manning has been advised this week that his son, Louis Manning, had arrived safely overseas. He was among the volunteers to go to France within the past month. Dr Grover C. Godwin, after a visit hero and to relatives at Farmville, went to Houston, Texas, where lie was assigned, after enlistment in the Health Work Department of the Army.
