In some of the counties the campaigns against t\phonl fever will continue through Sep tember, and the indications are that a larger number of people in the State will this year receive the ben* tit of the immunization afforded by the treatment than in any previoua year The campaign against typhoid j f* ver, the most preventable of all the preventable diseases, is receiving much encouragement from the results attained in the communities which have had an ti-typhoiddispeusariesin previous year. Especially is the army a , shining example. With nearly] three million men under nrnis either in France or in the United i States typhoid fever has been unknown ambng them, because| of compulsory anti-typhoid vac j cination. As a matter of fact the State Board of Health points out that ! typhoid vaccination is harmless, j painless, causing no sore arms or 'II after elfect-s and not pre venting any person from pursu iug ordinary work The treat ment gives immunity from tv I phoid fever for a period of at Iwast three years, and to it is ac | credited the fact that tbedisea e| been bani In d fi in ranks • I Ihe I Inited Mtsit s A:: 1. . ft «m the armioa of Europe. In a lii'-ge number of counties in N rth Carolina special anti ty phoid vaccination campaigns are being conducted, and the State Board of Health is anxious that as many people as possible take advantage of the opportunity that is being offered. And it pays, HI dollars and cents. Thiswasstrikinglv brought out at one of the dispensary points in Nash county some weeks a(ji> where much enthusiasm was aroused by the remarks of Mr W. S- Dozier, who after the crowd assembled, said that lie hoped every one present who had not been treated recently would be, ami added that years ag 1 at his farther's home typhoid attacked the family when they had one hundred and ten barrels of com in the crib and a smoke house full of bacon, that was when friends came and nursed ar.d caught the fever They had numerous friends and they came anil yvere very kind, but when the day of settling up came, there was no corn in the crib, no bacon in the smoke-house, one member of the family was dead, with an eight hundred dollar doctor bill, and they never kneyv what the other bills amounted to. A representative of the State Board of Health yvill be at the following places to give anti tox in free: Sandy Ridge School House Sept. 4, 11, 18, from!)
