Misses Ruby and Frances Morris, of Goldsboro, are visiting their aunt, Mrs. P B. Cone, and Dr. Cone. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hardison, Mrs. Bill Meadows, Miss Caroline Mead ows, and M. D. Munn, of Rocky Mount visited Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Watte and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Crawford Sunday. Miss Gladys Carstarphen, of Plain field, N. J., spent the week end with her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Car starphen and family. Miss Carstar phen is the daughter of Or. W. T. Carstarphen, who was formerly pro fessor of psychology at Wake Forest College. She was accompanied here by Mr. J. H. Leßoy, jr., of Elizabeth City. Messrs. J. L. Hassell and Harold Everett accompanied Mrs. J. A. Ever ett to Norfolk for the week end. Mrs. Everett spent the time in St. Vincents Hospital, and the others visited Vir ginia Beach. Messrs. Bob Hoggard and George Green, of Rocky Mount, visited friends in the city during the week end. Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Critcher and Burras, jr., accompanied by Mrs War ren Biggs and little Mildred, motored to Garysburg Sunday to visit Rev. and Mrs. B. Duke Critcher. They were accompanied home by Mrs. R. S. Critcher and little Alta Critcher. Mrs. C. D. Carstarphen returned Saturday evening from Littleton, where she has been visiting Dr. and Mrs. J. A. White. James White, jr., returned with her and will spend sev eral weeks here. Mr. and Mrs. State Ayers, of Ever etts, were visitors here yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Price, Darrell, Jesse, and little daughter, spent Sunday at Bayview. SALE OF LAND FOR TAXES 1, M. S. PEEL, Editor ——— Mrs. W. B. Watts Hostess At Bridge Fsrty Friday Mrs. W. B. Watts entertained last Friday morning for Miss Alice Dent, of Washington, D. C., who during her visit to her cousin, Mrs. M. D. Watts, has been the recipient of many so cial courtesies. There were two tables for bridge and after several rubbers, Mrs. Oscar Anderson, who made high score, was presented a jar of bath salts and the guest of honor a jar of powder. The hostess, assisted by her little daughter, Gwen, served iced drinks, frozen fruit ice, angel food cake, and salted peanuts. Those playing included Miss Dent, Mesdames J. W. Watts, jr., M. D. Watts, Titus Critcher, Oscar Ander sen, C. H. Godwin, ond B. W. Hardy. SANDY RIDGE LOCAL } AND PERSONAL NEWS (Too late for last issue.) Clarence, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Hopkins, who has been in a hos pital in Washington for several weeks was brought home Tuesday. The whole community wishes him a speedy recovery. . Getsinger is visiting his brother, J. Sam Getsinger, and others of his relktives in the county and will remain in the State until August 1, when he will return to his home in Manitee, Fla., where he is engaged in truck farming in the fertile valley of the Manitee River, which is regarded as the rival of any land in the world for fertility.
