Mr. Grimes, who has di- 1 ected athletics at the school for the 1 >ast two seasons, was toastmaster. rhe banquet was of the semi-formal ; lature, and there was never a long noment during its process. After the feed, Mr. Grimes, with ippropriate words of praise to Mr. Vlercer for his cooperation and ef ort in athletic activities, presented j he principal of the school. Mr. Mer- j :er, in a few brief remarks, expressed J limself as having "rejoiced in the splendid work done by the athletic j iepartment," and expressed a desire i o see it continued upon the same j ligh plane that had represented the t >chool this year. The team captains | hen addressed a few remarks to [ their team-mates, and several of the members made short responses. Mr. Mercer led the group in a standing vote of thanks to Coach Grimes fori his unselfish and untiring efforts with his team during the school year.! In closing the evening's festivities,' Coach Grimes made a short talk to the members of his teams and invited guests. He briefly reviewed the work done during the two years which he had been the Farm Life coach. He complimented and urged a continu ance of the high tyj>e of sjwrtsnun ship and the clean competitive spirit j with which' the boys and girls had represented the Farm Life school and Martin County. In his closing re marks he expressed a regret that in j all probability he would not return next year, but that his interests would still be for Farm Life. During Mr. Grimes' reign as coach, his teams have won 93 per cent of their games. Those attending were: Archie Col train, Paul, James, and Raleigh Har rington, }.
