Tuesday, April 14,1931 Prosperity Lies In Smaller Production With Better Quality With some sections of the Cotton Belt increasing their tobacco acreage, and with prospects for another large crop in the repnlar to bacco belt of Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina, it looks as if the tobacco acreage will be about the s&me as last year if not in creased. With these conditions confronting us, every indication points to lower prices for tobacco this year. A large tobacco crop means * jjt _ nothing more than bankruptcy for hundreds of farmers. The facts and figures on this page should be studied by every farmer every businessman, banker, and individual. A reduction in the tobacco acreage should be given careful consideration now not next fall. A half crop will bring more money than a full crop. This has been proven. A reduction of from 25 to 35 per cent in all the bright tobacco growing sections is practically imperative to secure even a living price. Official Government forecasts predict an average price below 10 cents unless a very great reduction is made.
