PAGE FOUR NEGRO IS BADLY INJURED WHEN STRUCK BY AUTO Steps in Front of Car Driven By Leonard Harney, Robersonville Man ♦ Robersonville, N'. C., November 5. —Jesse Moore. Beaufort County ne gro. was run down and hurt, as he walked the highway near Wash ington last Tuesday night about 8 o'- clock by a car driven by Leonard Harney, local white boy. Moore was removed to a Washington hospital, doctors there stating that his recovery is very doubtful. Young Harney, accompanied by Bud Reddick, was on his way to Washington, when they met a car a bout a half mile out of Washington on a long curve. Moore was-walk ing toward Washington and was on the'highway, alleged to have been a bout drunk and staggcritljras - walk ed. Harney, it is said, saw M> ire, but not in time to avoid striking him, but Keddick, who saw him, stated that Moore was staggering and walked in to the path of the car.
