As an added -touch, Skipper Charlie Wry becann married to Miss Jessie Mun ger of Seattle, Wash., between the two contests. Mayor J. L. Hassell of coated whilf* Kay Goodmon was Wry s best man, Pete Fowden giv ing the bride away. In thy opening game, two of the Martins markers came as tlie result of home runs, one by George Buwen in the third, and the other by Ace Villepique in the seventh. Combin ing three singles and a stolen base, the locals scored a run in the second, while Little Man Earp tripled, com ing home on a fly by Peewee Ship way to score in the eighth. Ace V illepique, with a home run and single, led the Martins at bat. He was followed by Earp with two for four. Red Swain pitched for the Martins! and received credit for the loss. He fanned seven baiters. Ilaidison started the second game on the mound for WiUiamston but was relieved in the fourth by Char lie Wry, who went on to pitch five hit ball and win his first game since Saturday. Williamston scored their first run in the sixth, the other, a homer by George Bowen, came in the eighth. Bowen, getting three hits for four trips to the plate, led the locals at bat. Take One from New Bern The Martins showed winning forml yesterday in taking an 8-4 decision over the New Bern Bears. Bill Aver ette pitched the victory over his for mer teammates. He allowed ten scattered hits, and walked only one man. Pitching in spite of the fact that his back was injured and heav ily taped, Averette set the Bears down in order the last three innings. Meanwhile, the Martins climbed Lefty Archer for sixteen safeties, including three doubles and a home run. Donald Duck Wilcox contributed the round tripper in the second for Williamston's first score. A double by Lakatos and Karp's single rmint ed another run in the same inning In the fourth. Lakatos' second dou ble. another bit by Earp, and Ville pique's double figured in'TKe scor ing of two more runs. With the score knotted at 4-all in the sixth, the Martins got busy to rack up three runs, enough to win. Earp walked, and infield hits by Shipway and Villepique filled the bases. Bowen then flied out to Anderson at sec ond double Villepique off first. Ed-| die Ignasiak came through with a single to count Earp and Shipway. Hardison singled, and then Wilcox knocked in Ignasiak. The final tally was added in the eighth on two walks and Wilcox' single. Charlie Wilcox, better known as "Donald Duck" was the top hitter, colling four hits for five times at bat.
