The Methodist church of James
ville was a scene of loveliness last
Friday when Miss Edna Gray Car
son, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Ola
Gray Carson, became the bride of
Thomas James Blount, son of Mr.
and Mrs Phillip Cecil Blount, in a
formal ceremony at 5:30 in the af
ternoon. The Rev. Gilbert Davis,
cousin of the bride, officiated, using
the ring ceremony.
The church was beautifully decor
ated with pines, ferns, and early
spring flowers. The alter accented
with baskets of floral designs and
floor candelabra finding cathedral:
candles, made a lovely setting for;
the brida! party.
Prior to the ceremony-, the vested
[ choir, arranged in two settings, sang |
| "The Evening Song" Mrs Charles i
Davenport sang "Ah, Sweet Mystery
of Life," assisted by Mrs Andrew
Holliday at the organ. "I Love You
Truly" was played during the cere

Little Miss Barbara Spencer was
the flower girl. She was dressed in
white organdy and carried a basket
of mixed spiing flowers.
The bride, who was given in mar
riage by her father, wore a bridal
gow n of white starched chiffon with
pearl clips at the neck A train ex
tended from her cape which was
wreathed in orange blossoms. She
carried a prayer book showered
with fern and lilies of the valley,
which was used by the great-grand
mother of the groom at her Wed
ding.

Mr. E. P. Cunningham returned
this week from South America
where he has been for the past sev
eral weeks contacting tobacco inter
ests of Argentina and various other
i South American countries.
Mr Cunningham said he would
ask tor comment on both Hitler and
Mussolini and they were generally
referred to as crazy by the Argen
tines. However, he said both Ger
many and Italy had friends among
government officials due to trade
agreements and that he was of the
opinion that the influence of the
dictators was gaining ground in
some of the South American coun

clubs held a zone meeting here yes
terday afternoon. The presidents
and secretaries of the various clubs
discussed a business calendar.

jects, he was asked to join this
scholastic honor club.
There were thirty-nine students
eligible for the club, but only 12
could be admitted as the member
ship cannot be over twenty, and the
club already had eight members en
rolled from last year.
