Jamesville and Bean Gvass Teams Meet In Finals Girls* Exhibition Will Start Tonight At 7:30 Large Crowd Sees Four Fast Contests In The Semi-Finals Jamesville Boys anil Bear Gra*n To Play In Boys' Finals At 8:30 ? And once?more ?tbr basketball supremacy will be held by James - ville or Bear Grass, with these teams emerging victorious in the semi finals of the county high school tournament. In the semi-finals played Wednes day night. Jamesville's girls defeat ed Robersonville, 37-21; Bear Grass girls won over Williamston. 20-17; Jamesville boys walloped William ston 37-19, and the Bear Grass boys edged out a 27-25 over-time victory over Farm Life. Excitement was plentiful among the large crowd attending the event, with an unusual amount of thrilling moments and well-played basket ball. Robersonville Girls Lose A fine Robersonville girls team fell by the wayside as M. Martin led her Jamesville chargers to a semi final victory, 37-21. Robersonville started strong and at the first per iod was leading 7-5. But something went wrong with the scoring attack and while Jamesville was counting 15 points, Robersonville was un able to score a single point. M. Martin was the leading scorer for Jamesville -with 21 points, while Mizelle was next with 10 Bunting I was Robersonville's ace with 12 points. Edmondson playing a great defensive game at guard Bear Grass Wins Hard Way In the best contest of the tourney thus far. Bear Grass boys eked out a 27-25 victory over Farm Life in an over-time period. Bear Grass went out in front at the first quarter, lead ing 8-3, and sported a 12-7 margin at half-time. Both teams went on a scoring rampage in the third period scoring ten points each. Play began fast in the final quarter und Farm Life held Bear Grass to one foul shot while they pulled up to knot the score at 23-all. In the extra period Bear Grass drew first blood when Albert Har ris dropped a two-pointer. But the lead was short as Ben Daniel hit the basket for the tying points. Ben Thrilling, Battles Are Expected Here For Court Championship ? The Bear Grass and James vllle girls and boys' basketball teams will meet here tonight in the finals of the county tourna ment. The girts' game will get underway promptly at 7:30 o'clock with the boys' contest following at 8:30 p. m. Both the Bear Grans and Jamesville girls' teams drew byes in the first round of the tourney and in the semi-finals Jamesville won handily from Robersonville, 37-21, while Bear Grass was having a hard time gaining a 20-17 decision from Williamston. Both teams seem about even with M. Martin list - rd in the leading role for James ville, and Hattie Ward leading the Bear Grass sextet. In the boys' division. Bear Grass gained a one-sided win over Dak City in the opening round, 50-20, and then went on to win from Farm Life in an extra period. Jamesville defeat ed Robersonville with no trouble and gained an easy victory over Williamston. The two teams ap pear to be evenly matched and a hard, thrilling battle is in store for the large crowd expected to attend the championship finals tonight. Janiel fouled R. White of Bear Grass n a close play near the basket, and Vhite made good on both baskets, he end coming soon after with Farm jife still waging a terrific battle for he game. Tbe outstanding player of the lame was Ben Daniel, who practical y single-handed put Farm Life in : he running. He scored 15 points and van all over the court in an unsuc :essful attempt to throttle the Bear Jrass attack. For Bear Grass, Albert darns led in scoring with 12 points, vhile R White looked good defen ively. Bear Grass Girls This Time It's the same old story, except that Is the Bear Grass girls this time and heir victims were the Williamston assies, with the final count 20-17 Bear Grass started off fast with 'ive points in short order while the local girls sank a field goal late in the first period Bear Grass was still Holding a 3-point margin at half lime. Williamston scored four points n the third period to cut the margin to 12-10 in favor of Bear Grass. With the score tied at 17-all, O. Rogerson sank a two-pointer .which proved the amount needed although Kawls cinched the win with a free >hot just before the gun went off. Marjorie Dunn found the basket in the last half and shot eight points to lead the losers, while Hattie Ward ; with 11 was outstanding for Bear Grass. M. Martin, oi Jamesville, with 21 points in one game, ranks next, and Hattie Ward, of Bear Grass, with 11 in one game is third. M. Martin leads in high scor ing for a single game. In the boys' division the situa tion is more difficult. Harris, of Bear Grass, has a total of 30 points for two games, while Boh erson, of Bear Grass, and Ange. of Jamesville. each have a total of 23 points for two contests. A Holliday, of Jamesville. fol lows close behind with 22 points in a pair of contests. Breezy Beaird was injured in the Washington tournament some time iigo. and it was decided to have a "Breezy Beaird Night" to honor his play with, the Martins. Breezy has been a big eog in the local cage team and it is only fitting that everyone turn out to pay tribute to him.
