The guests were greeted at the door by Mrs. Rogers and directed to a punch bowl which Mrs. Rossell Rogers presided over. The two rooms on the first floor of the Rogers home, where games were enjoyed, were lovely decorat ed with red and white gladioli, fern and ivory. Bingo was played and other con tests and games were enjoyed. Those receiving prizes during the evening were Mrs. Sidney Beacham, Mrs. Hildreth Mobley, Mrs. R L. Leggett, Mrs J. S. The dining room was artistically decorated and the Valentine color scheme, red and white, were car ried out The large antique table centering the room was beautifully arranged with red candles, which lighted the room. Friends may drop in and we would like to serve them some thing tasty. Let's take the Waffle Baker off the shelf?Waffles are so versatile. Such a variety of batters and these batters may be prepared well in ad vance. When heating your waffle baker always have it open until the heat is uncomfortable to the hand then close it to complete the heating. It is especially desirable to do this if the baker has beerv stored where, it is quite cold. This treatment prevents sweating. Sweating often causes the first waffle to stick. There are many ways of serving waffles. . I Waffles and syrup served with thin slices of Smithfield ham and hot cof fee. Waffles with one-half of the short ening left out and one-half cup'of pork sausage added. Waffles with one-half cup crisp bacon broken to bits. Waffles topped with cream beef, creamed turkey or chicken a la king, served with fresh fruit?hot choco late. Dinner Waffles ? Makes 8 3 beaten egg yolks 2 c milk 3-4 c melted shortening 3 c flour 1 tsp salt 3 1-2 tsp baking powder 3 stiff beaten egg whites Combine egg yolks, milk and short ening Add flour sifted with salt and baking jxiwder -beat smixith. Fold in egg whites. Crispy Waffle 2 beaten egg yolks 2 c buttermilk or sour milk 1-3 c salad oil | 2 c flour 1 -2 tsp salt 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp soda 1 tbsp sugar 2 stiffly beaten egg whites Combine egg yolks, milk and salad oil. Add flour sifted with salt, bak ing powder, soda and sugar?beat well. Fold in egg whites?Bake hot waffle iron. Waffles may be used for dessert. Devil's Food Waffles Cream 1-2 cup of butter with 1 cup , sugar. Whip in 2 well beaten eggs. | Add 1-2 cup milk. Sift 1 1-2 cups pas try flour with 2 tsp baking powder and a pinch of salt. Add to the li quid mixture and beat hard. Melt 2 squares of unsweetened chocolate and pour into batter with 1 tsp van ' ilia and pinch of cinnamon: Heat waffle iron brush with but ter Bake as any waffle. Serve hot vith whipped cream or marshmal ow between. Gingerbread Waffles 2 e molasses 1 tsp powdered ginger 3 c flour 4 tsp baking powder 3-4 c butter 1-4 tsp cinnamon 1 c buttermilk ?2 tsp soda 1-4 tsp nutmeg 2 eggs beaten very light Bring molasses and butter to boil ing point. Stir in soda, ginger, cin namon and nutmeg Remove from fire and add sifted flour and butter milk alternately add eggs and bak ing powder. Bake slowly and serve with whipped cream. VA TRO NOL Happenings In The Jamesville School The Jamesville boys and girls won | their thirteenth straight doublehead er as they defeated Farm Life in two games here Tuesday evening. Feb ruary 3rd. The Jamesville girls triumphed over the Bear Grass girls last Wed-1 nesday evening, while the boys suf fered their first defeat when the Bear Grass boys won by a score of 23-21. Both games were played in the Williamston gym. The Parent-Teacher Association met Thursday evening, February 5, at 7:30 o'clock in the school auditor ium. The Glee Club had charge of the program. Following the P.T.A., the boys basketball team played and defeated the Greenville N.Y.A. boys. The ninth grade, under the direc tion of Mr. Kniss, had charge of the chapel program Friday, February 3. A physical education program has i been added to the curriculum. A j schedule has been arranged so that all phases of health can be stressed.
