Let's All Go To Church This Easter! EASTER TIDINGS" . . Rev. John L. Goff Sunday?morning in many places and in many churches people will iMf.-t In Sinn and greet the rising of the sun, for il is Easter. In our own community -such- a -service is'sched*? uled in a lot adjacent to the ceme tery at 6 45 if the weather permits, otherwise the service will be held in the Baptist Chu^i at the same hour. The cemetery is a place that re coives the mortal remains of those who are near and dear to us. In some section of ground in some place, most of us have those "who have gone on before." Most of our hearts have had to bow beneath this great sorrow, because of loved ones or dear friends. As the last "Amen" was said and we turned from "God's holy-acre*' what' were some of the emotions that stirred in our aching hearts? Bui there rump an emerging awareness of a personal loss, the sense of broken relationships, or ra ther Suspended relationships, the loss ?>f a c<>mrade or intimate personal_ friend? Was there a sense in which we felt that we had been cheated? That the universe was not kind to us? Did the feeling come that the suffering, pain-racked body was now clothed in quiet and peaceful sleep? That life's storms were behind? Perhaps these and many more such-like emotions swept our souls, but if we left God's holy-acre as Christians, there came a growing inner warmth in our hearts that comforted us and sustained us, for as we deposited our dear ones and left their earthly bodies among that which they would some day become, we could luff living, because 19 centuries ago, Jesus, the Teacher. came from Nazareth, was similarly placed, and when His friends came hark to complpte their ministry of love, He was not there. And, we lhank God that He was not there, even as He said before. Kaster, therefore, speaks to us and says, "that only that which is mor tal of our loved-dead do We place in the 'Silent City', for they them selves (their spirits) have returned unto their Father and God." How happy we are that Joseph's new tomb did not hold the Son of God. How thrillingly new are the words of the angel, "Do not be bewildered. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified? He has risen, He is not here. That is the place where Hi- was laid." (Moffatt) Death is the judgment pronounced hv .1 righteous judge upon an un nghteous act. Yet our God and Fa tlier has used even this judgment, for those who die in Cfirisli as a means of release from our temper al bodies that we may be clothed upon and have a body like unto the resurrected body of our dear Lord. Therefore we can exclaim with Paul, "O death where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? . . . But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ Therefore, my beloved breth ren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, al ways abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not ip vain in the Lord" County Churches Announce Easter Services CEDAR BRANCH Regular services will be held at Cedar Branch Baptist Church Sun day at 11 a m. and 8 p m E.WT Sunday will be Easter, the day on which we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord, the greatest event in Biblical history, and one of the greatest mysteries that ever arrest ed the mmd of man 1 t's all fill our places at church Sunday and study this great subject as it comes to us from God's word. ?
