OPA is about to begin a program of enforcement of the general max imum price regulation in areas where its educational activities have reach ed a majority of retailers. Price Ad ministrator Henderson announced July 26th. '"Die honest storekeepers ? and they'ate legion?and the buying pub lic must be protected against delib erate chiseling and penny profiteer ing," he said. At the same time, the Administra tor called the attention of retailers to the fact that housewives and oth er members of the buying public ac quired the legal right, beginning July 31, to bring civil suits for a min imum of $50 (or treble the amount of the overcharge, whichever is greater), plus attorney's fees and costs, against any storekeeper who charges them more for an article than the OPA regulations allow. Similar suits may be filed by ten anlt in dofanse-rantal areas against landlords who collect rents above those permtted by OPA rent orders. ?
