Vocational Teacher I Hold
Meeting In Roper Sept. 9
A joint meeting of vocational home
economics and vocational agriculture
teachers of Martin, Tyrrell and
Washington Counties was held in
Roper, September 9th. Representa
tives of each school discussed their
plans for point programs to be con
ducted during the coming year.
There was also a discussion of the
plans for vocational education in
the eighth grade.
In separate groups, the two dis
cussed individual problems and the
home economics teachers elected as
their officers for the year: chairman,
Beula White, of Creswell, secretary,
Frances Ford, Robersonville; pro
gram chairman, Lela Davenport,
Columbia; publicity chairman, Ruth
Britt, Williamston.
It was decided that the future
meetings would . be held once
month.

BIRTHDAY PARTY
Mrs. Georgie Martin, of James
ville. entertained at a party Sunday
afternoon. September 13th, from 4:00
to 6:00 o'clock, honoring her little
daughter, Barbara Faye, on her
fourth birthday.
The guests were received at the
door and invited into the dining
room where the gifts were opened
and displayed.
A variety* of outdoor games were
played, assisted by Misses Lois Parks
and Louise Dail. Following the
games, refreshments were served
on a?long table which was placed
outdoors. A beautiful birthday cake
with four candles formed a center
piece. While the guests were being
served ice cream and cake, Vernon
Griffin took pictures of the party.
Each guest was presented a favor.
Approximately 85 children and 25
adults attended the party
