Dead The many friends Of Mr. William Henry Williams will be pained, to leam of his death which occurred at his home near Town Creek at 3 clock Tuesday moiming. Monday night be eat supper with his family and was apparently as well as usual, but soon afterward was taken with violent pain from irhiob he died. The occasion was greatly enjoyed by all. The many friends of Mr. Ernest M. Tilghman regret to leam that he has for several days been on the sick list. We hope he will soon recover. Hon J. Y. Joyner, State Superin tendent of Public instruction, will address the people of Wilson conn ty in the court house at Wilson, on June 27th, at 11 o’clock. A County Teacher’s Institute for white teachers, is being held this week at Wilson. It is necessary for you to attend if you wish to teach ia the public schools in the county. Elm City’s delegation of teachers to the county Teachers’ Institute in Wilson this WTOk consisted of Mr. A. B. Cameron, Misses ' Sallie and Miiinie Bames, Margaret McGowan and Bertha Pridgen. We wish to thank the town au thorities for placing a light on the comer of Main and 2nd Avenue. It adds much to the convenience of those who have to pass that way and will be appreciated by many. Mr. J. Fred Tilghman left Toes day for Charleston, S. C., where goes to accept a position with & large lumber lumber plant there'. We regret to lose him as one of our citi zens, but wish him much success in his new home. The lawn party which was to be given by the young men of this place Thursday night, has been post poned on account of the weather un til Monday night. All are invited and it is hoped, will attend this enjoyable oocasion. The Swift Creek Oil Mill, near Battleboro, in Edgecombe county was burned Sunday night. The tire plant was destroyed. The loss is about fifteen thousand dollars and with no insurance. It is hardly probable that it will be rebuilt. The cause of the fire is not known. The Voting Contest The vote in the contest at O.
