THE STATE GUARD.
, Adjutant General Copies' report on the
State Guard for 1697 is now in the hands
of the printer.
It will show that tho State Guard num
bers 1,794, an increase of 123 Not a
company has disbanded during theytar.
The guard bas bceu called out eight times.
The quartermaster weneral's report
shows a standard oi iuspecliou above the
average .
The paymaster G neral's report shows
that the smallness of the appropriation o
the State Guard necessitates tne strictest
ecouomy.
The report says that a new arsenal is
needed, Raleigh Nwb and Observer.
