Hornthal, Miss Bulah Baternan, of Williamston, is the guest of Mrs. L. W. Bateman. Misses Vonnie Leggett and Callie Stubbs are visiting friends in Washington. Master Carl Wilson, of Greenville, is visiting his aunt, Mrs. M. S. Barden. Miss Pattie B. BarJen ia visiting her grand-father, Mr. K. Saunders, at Mildred. Mr. W. L, Sherrod is having another nice house built on Main street, near Washing ton. Our paper failing to reach us this week we are compelled to get out a half size pa per. Mrs. Benton and daughter, Miss Lillian Covington, of Suubury, are visiting the family of Mr. C. D. Loane. Tobacco farmers, we have just received a large lot of tobacco twints, and as you will soon need it, call and lay in a supply. Louis P. Hornthal. The Sunday schools of the Baptist and Disciple churches enjoyed a joint pic-uic and excursion to Washington on Tuesday. Mrs. CUndia Waters and grand-sou, Master Claud Gardner, of Washiugtou, are here, the guests- of Mr. W. Fletcher Aus bon. Mr. S. R. Norman nd family, of Nor. folk, have been yisiting Mr, Norman's pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. C. tf. Norman, this week. Mr. W. II. Corprevr, of Edenton, drop ped in to see us while in town yesterday. Mr. Corprew and wife have been visiting relatives and friend3 in this section and were enroute home. Mr, J. E. Doughtie having resigned his position aa sawyer at the RR. R. fc L. Go's, mills, will return to his old home in Virginia. Mr. Robertson, of Pantego, will fill the vacancy here. Get your fish from C. E. Flowers' fish cart, or send or 'phone to his fish market, second stall to left in market house. Fresh fish daily. Together with quite a crowd from this section, we attended the opening sales of tobacco at the Roanoke Warehouse at Williamston on Wednesday. There was a large crowd in attendance, a big lot of pretty tobacco, and prices were good. We return thanks to the Executive Com mittee of the Tyrrell County Monument Association to attend the unveiling of the Confederate Monument at Columbia yes terday, Aug. 7th. It seems that nearly everything we would like to attend occurs on Thursday, the day ot all the week that it is impossible for us to leave our office. Mr. Jue. S. Day, a young man well known here, being raised in this town, dropped dead on the streets of Atlanta, Ga., on Friday last. Mr. Day was about 30 years old and leaven a wife, also a mother and one sifter to mourn his untimely end. His mother is Mrs. N. B. Yeager, and sis ter Mrs. C. D. Loane, both of this town. They have our heartfelt sympathy, My boy when four years old was taken with colic and cramps in his stomach. I sent -for the doctor and be injected mor phine, but the chiid kept getting worse.
