The number enrolled during the past year was 123, with an average of SO for daily attendance. The number of absentees was nearly 5000 less during the past year as com pared with the sessions of '04 and '05. That the school is being prop erly patronized, is due m a large measure to the character of the men who constitute its Board of Trustees. Thos. W. Blount, Ohm.; L. G. Ro per, Treas.; L. B. Johnston, J. W. Chesaon, and Ernest Lewis, make up the membership of the Board. Successful men of affairs in their owu special lines of business, they have adopted the same methods in the conduct of the school, and the educational interest of the people of Koper has most certainly been en trusted to faithful hands. The exercises consisted ot drills, dialogues, marches, and pantomime',. Tha excellent execution of their sev eral parts by the pupils bore proof of the hard, persistent, and systematic traiaing they received from their teachers. Hon. John II. Small delivered a very interesting and instructive ad dress on "The Spirit of Service." The address was indioative of the wan. Thoroughly conversant with the needs of the people, his speech bore unmistakable evidence of his deep interest in their welfare. The epeaker was presented by the He v. Mr. Cotton, of the N. C, Methodist conference. The medal for scholarship was won by Master John T. McAllister. The deportment medal was awarded to Misa Millie Estelle Spruill. These medals were the gift of Miss Augusta Carstarphen, in charge of the Inter mediate Department, and were pre sented in a happy manner by lion. Thos. W. Blount. .The cla&j in music, under Mrs. Leon Lewis, the musical director, added to the entertainment very ma terially with a selection of well ren dered pieces. The school is indebted to the fol lowing ladies for their kind assist ance: Mrs. T. W. Blount, Mrs. L. O. Roper and Mrs. J. W. Speight. That the policy of the school has met the approval of the community is witnessed in the uuanim his re election of Supt. Alex, 11. lvuuce. Miss Augusta C Carstarpheu was re-elected teacher in the Intermedi ate Department. Miss Neva Uhes- Every form of distressing ailineut known as Files originates iut mally.
