Business Men Meet. m
The business men of Plymouth
held a banquet in Blount's Hall
last night for the purpose of or
ganizing for the betterment of
conditions pertaining to Ply
mouth and this section generally.
About two hundred were present
and among the speackers were
Mr. A. E Rice, Land and Indus
trial Agent of the Norfolk-South
ern R. R., and others.
Having to go to press before
the function was over it - is im
possible for us to give particnlars
in this issue.
A Card of Thanks.
To the friends who came to us
in our hour of trouble, and con
tributed all that human kind
ness could suggest, to help and
comfort, we return most heart
felt thanks, and although such
devated friendship cannot re
move the sad memories that ling
er around our vacant chair, it
brings into view the brightest
side of humanity, and throws the
pure light of an unselfish friend
ship into a darkened home. May
she day be far distant when those
friends who gathered around us
will need similiar attention, but
when the time comes may they
receive the same full measure of
generous aid end tender sympa
thy they brought to our home
when death wos an inmate there.
Mrs. Jane Brinkley & Family.
To Democrats.
Since Congressman Small has
shifted the unpleasant duty of
endorsing the name of any man
for the post office, to the people
of this community, and at the
"Suggestion" of, I do not know
who, he declares that le will en
dorse no man who will not in
crease the assistaht's pay from
$300 to $480.' and give it to .the
"suggest id" one, it has made it
impossible for for me to accept
the appointment from a financial
stand point, even if my loyalty
to the party should entitle me to
it. I for one connot , ask my
friends to make community fight
for an office of the goverment
when they had already, bv their
votes, elected a man to represent
them in such affairs.
After complying with Mr.
Small's requirments there would
not be enough pay in the office to
justify me in taking it, so, if the
present place is to be carriod out
I shall not be a candidate.
TnanKing my inenas ior any
support they may have been will
ing to give me, I am.

Resyectfully,
SV. F. Ausbon
1 of Chief bf Police;.
Through this medium I wish to
announce to the voters of Ply
mouth that I will be a candidate
for the Dffice of Chief of Police
in the coming election May 0.
If elected will, devote mj en
tire time and attention to . the
duties of this office. .
Thanking you in ' advance for
all the support that I may re
ceive from you and assuring: you
that I "will heartily appreciate it

WOT everyone can do the same, of course, but it stands to
1 ' reasort that the more you follow the plans of those who
have, the more successful you will be. '
Every man who is more than ordinarily prosperous, owes his
good fortune partly to his bank; to the fact that they have been
willing to loan him money, for it takes money to make money.
We make short time loans on personal property or security.
Many times this accommodation will enable a farmer to double his
profits by holding his stock longer and by doing business on a
bigger scale. .
You must realize that in making loans we take into consider
ation the success of an enterprise. Having made a study of fi
nancial matters, you can realize the fact that our advice in itself
may be very valuable to you.
Do not hesitate to ask us about any matter in which you are
nterested and in which we can help you in any way.
