V. BEACON FLASHES. County Commissioners were in session here Monday. Mr. and Mrs, I. B. Bailey were in Norfolk this week. Mr. Durwood Ayers made a business trip to Pinttown Tues day. Mrs. Ab Adler has returned home from a visit to Henderson. Messrs. J. II. Leggett and C. S.'Ausbon spent last Sunday in and near Coleraine. ' Some of our young people spent the Glorious Fourth in Norfolk, ' Mr. Chas. Layton. of Golds boro, is visiting friends and rel atives nere this week. Miss Norma Chesson of Mack evs is the gupst of Miss Lucy Norman on Third Stieet. Mr. and Mrs. W. W Ssarbor ow?h left yesterday to visit rela tives in E City. Messers W. M. Bond and C. Latham have been down to Nag's Head the past week. Mr. and Mrs A. L. Owens and children are spending some time at Nag's Head. Mr. W. H. Righter returned yesterday after having spent a few days in Norfolk and Rich mond. Mr. Lue Read spent Wednes day in Rocky Mount as the guest of his brother, Mr. Jack Read, who is employed in that city. Mrs. W. F. Durfey and child ren. James, Mildred and Thelma of Harrellsville are visiting her sister, Mrs. G. W. Hardison on South Washington Street. Messrs, C. V. W., and F. S. AusbonandAbe Adler Master Buster and Emmitt J-tlount motored over to Kinston Monday. Mr. and M-r. A. and children, who spending some few weeks near Ayden, returned home Tuesday night, and will leav again to morrow. Clyde Cahoon's store was close 1 yesterday preparatory to the big "Quick Cash Sale" which begins today. Mrs. Sallie Hassell has torn dwn her homo on Third street, j Editors Meet In Durham. On Wednesday and Thursday of next week the organized edi tors of North Carolina will hold their annual convention in Dur ham. That city has tendeied a most generous invitation to the scribes, and are making elaborate preparations for their entertain ment while there. It goes without saying that the editors. were well pleased when they were informed that Durham would be their convent ion city this year, and good rep resentation of this association is expected to be in attendance.
