White on Third St. Rev. B. T. Hurley, pastor of the M. E. Church makes special request that the entire member ship of the church be present on Sunday morning. Good music will be provided and all who will do po are cordially invited to at tend. Mr, Lemuel Briijkley arrived in Plymouth this week after hav ing been away for a year or two. Blount, county, were in town Wednes day. Mrs. Anna Davis and daughtter of Roper, were in the city Mon day. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Outlaw spent a few days in Norfolk the past week. Mrs. C. A. Waters of Wash ington is visiting relatives in our city this week. Miss Bertie Leigh Brewer of Norfolk is visiting her cousin, Miss Sadie Ausbon. Miss Martha Walker of Nor folk is visiting Mrs. C. V. Nor man on Third Street. Miss Nellie Weeks of E. City, spent Tuesday night here, the guest of Mrs. Harry Scell. Miss Florine Davenport . of Roper is visiting her uncle, Mr. E. W. Chesson, near to wn, Mrs. C. J. Norman returned home Tuesday from a pleasant visit to relatives in Norfolk. Mr. C. S. Ausbon, after spend ind some few weeks in the moun tains of this state, returned Sun day. Mrs. Geo. S. Swain of Suffolk, Va., is visiting her parents, Mr. and iVirs. C. V. Norman, on Third Street- Mrs. J. M.Hor ton left Wed nesday for Blacky Mountain, where she will remain for some few weeks. . Mrs. Jas. Rhodes of William ston passed through our city Mondiy enroute home from a stay at Nag's Head, Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Chesson and children of E. Despite Republican opposition to it, claiming that it was Dem ocratic extravagance, we are truly glad to see that Congress has seen fit to vote an ap opri ation for the relief of the teiod stricken people of thu and a3r southern states. v' Mr. J. S. Shugar having: pin chased the lot adjoining the Plymouth Garage & Motor Co., on Water Street, he informs us that he will at once erect there on commodious stables in which to more properly conduct his sale and exchange business. Celebration Suggested. Mr. T..E. Allen of the Pungo section was here this week, and be tells us that his entire com munity is overjoyed at the near approach of the re-opning of the turnpike road which will again make Plymouth their mar ket. He says that his people be came greatly attached to our busintss men and our people gfcneral'y when this road was passable, and ( have greatly de plored its destruction by fire several years ago. He says they gratefully appreciate the inter est our county has taken in them in re-building the road and thus opening up to them again a good market and trading center. This road will be completed within from 30 to 60 days, and speaking for the entire settle ment, Mr. Allen suggests a pic nic at this end of the road as s5on as it is opened, to celebrate the evenlsand to meet with and become better acquainted with each other. Mr. Allen says his people will do their lull part in the way of he dinner, and we assure them that Plymouth people will not b found lacking along this hue Mrs. L B. Sheffield, who was at Asheville during the recent flood, ha returned home, after a long and tedious journey. Miss Cad Campbell of Rocky Mount is visiting our city, the guest of her brother, Mr, J. R. On Saturday night last, about dark, Mrs. Margaret Leggett, while coming out of her front yard fell and fractured her hip, which has caused her much suf- ering, It seems as if the street ere n had been at work in that part of the town, and cut the street away from the sidewalk, leaung an abrupt, steep step to be taken by a person in or out of tl is yard, and Mrs. Leggett, being ignor ant of this condition, fell vkhile tempting to cross over to the home of her aor, Mr, 0. R, Leg- get. The doctor informs us that while her injury is serious and extremely painful, she will get over it in the course of a few weeks. Hae's Beach.
