Reminiscences. Oh dear old silent river That ripples on your way, I love to stand beside you And see your ripples play. Somehow I love to watch you. The feeling clos't akin, For in the days of childhood, I stood and watched you then I wondered then if ever I would drift with you away. In change of life I realize Sure I must pass away. I see no change you're making Yet there's a change in me; You seem as blithe as ever And will forever be. I love you, dear old river As I see you move along, I love to hear you murmur Your glad, sweet song. Oh, could I have my brother That in those bygone years, We'd stand again beside you And I'd be free from tears. .. And shall I stand here longer And cry 'till I am blind? No, I must like the river, An Eternal Ocean find. E. B. Joyner. Edit a Newspaper to learn Human Nature. If a man wants to get acquaint ed with human nature, let him edit a newspaper for a short time.
